All these thoughts and fears
They haunt me in my sleep
I fall prey to my own mind
To my own self doubts
As if they run free in the wild.
But mum, believe me when I say
"It really isn't a phase"
Dad, I didn't ask to be this way
I'm still your son, isn't it enough?
Sometimes, I wish I was a woman:
Maybe it would feel right to love a man.
Maybe it would feel right to just be myself
To let you in my life, with no secrets and lies
Maybe I would make you proud.
I wish I was a woman:
Maybe then you would accept me.
