Chapter 15 - Sea King Takedown

Arito & Daisu: "Hey Pipper!"

Gwen: "Pretty sure nicknames are supposed to be smaller than my name."

Arito: "Haha, who told you that?"

Daisu: "It's perfect because you're so small and cute."

I stuck my tongue out at them.

Arito: "Careful Pip or the wind will change, and it'll stay that way."

I laughed, not believing that.

Gwen: "What's the guitar for?"

Daisu: "It's for you. We want to teach you."

Gwen: "I thought you already tried to teach me every instrument we have."

Arito: "Au contraire~ You don't know what kind of orchestra we have on this ship~"

Daisu: "Figured we'd let you have a crack at this one. What do you think?"

I smiled as they sat with me.

Gwen: "Can I?"

Daisu: "Sure! We'll start you off with just these three chords. Pay attention, they go like this. G... C... and D."

He showed me how to play them and handed it to me to try.

Gwen: "G... C... D!"

Daisu: "That's it, you got it!"

Arito: "Try playing something."

Gwen: "Really?"

Arito: "Yeah, you can play a lot with just a few chords. Give it a try."

I thought for a moment, strumming for inspiration until I got something.

Gwen: "~~And I'm free, free sailin'. Yeah, I'm free, free sailin'~~"

I was almost surprised I made that work and I smiled bashfully as the twins cheered for me.

Arito: "Yeah! Keep practicing and you'll be able to play anything in no time."

Daisu: "We'll teach you some more chords too."

Gwen: "Yeah, let's do it!"

"Hey, we got a sea king out there!"

Brook: "AAAAHHH?!!"

Gwen: "Crap timing yet again...!"

I put down the guitar and ran to the stern to see Laboon frantically swimming from the giant sea king.

Gwen: "Oh HELL no! Captain, it's after Laboon!"

Yorki: "Come on, crew! Let's protect our friend!"

Crew: "YEAAAAH!"

Everyone headed below deck.

Yorki: "Gwen, direct your brother around to the bow and back to the platform! We'll get the sea king on the starboard side!"

Gwen: "Aye, captain! Understood!"

I waved my arms and got his attention.

Gwen: "Laboon! Follow me! This way!"

He squeaked in understanding and followed me along the starboard side with the sea king in pursuit.

Gwen: "That's it, brother! Fast as you can! Come on, we've got you!"

Yorki: "Ready, men?!"

Crew: "AYE!"

Yorki: "On my word!"

He made it to the bow.

Gwen: "Good job, buddy! Captain, he's clear!"

Laboon was safe and the sea king was still in range.

Yorki: "FIRE!"

I covered my ears as the canons shot at the sea king and took him down. The splash, rocking the boat.

Everyone: "YEEAAAHH!"

Gwen: "No one messes with our buddy and gets away with it!"

Yorki: "Gwen, go make sure he's okay!"

I smiled and ran to lower myself down on the platform.

Gwen: "Laboon!"

He swam right up to me and chirped.

Gwen: "Are you alright? You're not hurt, are you?"

He smiled, letting me know he was okay. I hugged him with relief.

Gwen: "That must've been scary, huh. But you did good, I'm proud of you, brother."

I giggled as he nuzzled me.

Gwen: "I'm just so glad you're safe."

He pushed his nose into my stomach, lifting me off the platform and up on his head.

Gwen: "Ahaha, Hey careful, buddy!"

He swam around the ship as the crew came back on deck.

Brook: "LABOOON~!"

We looked up to see Brook waving at us.

Brook: "My friend! Are you okay?!"

Laboon chirped with a smile.

Gwen: "He's not hurt!"

Brook: "Oh, thank goodness! Ahaa, you had me so worried."

"Hey Gwen, what're you doing down there?" "Laboon, did you kidnap your sister?"

Laboon squeaked in playful triumph, and everyonelaughed.
