for the 1K special, we have a headcanon list (mostly aruna, but other's, too
i had a bad day, but eventually, i might publish a valentine's special (it's almost valentine's day so why not), however, it may take a few days.

ANYWAYS ON WITH IT
HEADCANONS mostly aruna tho
-her favorite animals are shaggy, fluffy cows, and dogs
-she stopped celebrating her birthday after her dad died
-her love language is touch, but she has a hard time with it because of her trauma. this is why she pokes people and nudges them, and why she does simple things like lay her head on leo's shoulder. her secondary language is gifts, specifically sharing food, which is also big for her because her grandmother used to withhold food as punishment, so she tries to hoard.
-leo's love language is quality time. he just loves being close to aruna, and doing whatever with her, like when she draws or he builds. he loves it most when she reads to him; it reminds hiim of when his mother used to read to him before bed.
-aruna likes to paint her nails vibrant colors because her dad always told her it made her even prettier
-leo loves it when aruna wears his clothes, specifically his pants
-aruna and leo are the exact same height, but most of aruna's height comes from long legs, so her legs are noticeably much longer than leo's, while her torso is a bit shorter. she also has weirdly long arms
-aruna thinks leo's curls are hot
-this one applies to a general group, but i love it because these guys dont exist in the books; children of selene have silver eyes, like the moon. children of helios have golden eyes, like the sun. children of eos have a sort of periwinkle eye color, like the dawn.
-aruna did, in fact, have a small crush on piper when they first met. piper thought she was cute, but did not have a crush.
-aruna didn't like how cinnamon smelled until she met leo
-frank is both terrified and infatuated with aruna
-aruna has canonically asked frank to turn into a horse and give her a ride.
-aruna's dream job when she was younger was a detective.
-aruna used to be very bubbly, loving, and energetic, though she was always introverted.
-leo truly believes he will never be able to love anybody else the way he loves aruna
-jason used to be a goody-two-shoes but aruna is his Buddy and her energy rubbed off on him in the worst way, and now he has Feral Goblin moments
-annabeth didn't really like aruna at first, but when aruna pimp slapped drew, annabeth decided she was okay. she also felt bad about aruna getting outcasted, because it reminded her of the way she had treated tyson when he first came around.
-hazel legitimately thinks aruna might be psychotic.
-aruna actually cares about everyone on board (including coach hedge) very much, but she has a lot of trouble showing it, and it mostly comes off in rudeness (bumping people, telling them to fuck off)
-aruna is not very attracted to pale skin and light hair
-aruna was a little rusty on her spanish until leo came around, and it basically unlocked her memories. over time, aruna is getting a little worse at korean, and she now has an american accent when speaking it
-aruna can speak minoan because the minoans are older than the greeks, just like her mother is older than the olympian gods. while selene herself was not strongly regarded by the minoans, they did have a strong representation of nature and fertility, which selene has connections to.
-aruna is technically a step-sister to jason, like piper and leo are to each other (selene/luna had ersa and pandia by zeus/jupiter). this feels a little less special, however, considering jason is the half-brother/step-brother to about 75% of the LIVING population
-jason and aruna see each other as a brother and sister, the same way leo and piper do to each other. however, jason strictly sees leo as a best friend, not a brother. piper and aruna also feel that way about each other
-aruna sees hazel as a little sister. she has an inclination to protect her because she sees her as young and innocent, like she was at one point.
-when aruna saw aphrodite/venus, she saw only female figures, like the other girls did. however, all of her visions were of dark haired and tanned skin individuals, and several had curly hair
-aruna has everyone's star charts memorized
-aruna was actually almost named ophelia but i kept thinking of that girl in pan's labyrinth and it made me sad so i changed it
-aruna's dad made her middle name mercedes after call of the wild, but i did it after mercedes in pan's labyrinth, because i LOVE mercedes
-i got her character design from pieck (attack on titan), power (chainsaw man), and mikasa (attack on titan) while her personality is a mix of power, mikasa, and me because half of her dialogue is what i said when i read these books like "bro just stfu". i also gathered a bit of her from my cousin
-aruna cannot eat green beans, she thinks they are vile and disgusting
-aruna can eat/drink almost anything and have a stomach of steel. however, she gets sick really easily, and when she's exhausted, she's more prone to hurling
-one of leo and aruna's nightly adventures landed them in north carolina (should i do a short on that?)
-aruna has a fear of pigeons for no reason. this fear is entirely irrational, she does not recall ever being attacked by pigeons (spoiler alert; she literally never has been and never will be) but they terrify her. leo finds it a little bit funny because they have trouble walking around in parks a lot because of this fear.
-aruna is allergic to penicillin
-aruna thinks leo is extremely attractive, but she doesn't know why. she actually prefers the fact that he's scrawny, short, and scrunkly
-she's a history nerd. her favorite topics of study are world war II and japan's isolationism
-she thinks frank is adorable- not from an attractive stand point, but she seriously thinks he is super cute
-aruna used to be insecure about the hair on her arms, so she shaved it. when she met piper, piper threw out her razor every time she caught aruna shaving her arms, and then yelled at her about self-esteem. aruna does not care about her arm hair anymore. however, she has certain spots where hair does not grow anymore because she is so scarred up.
-even without trauma, aruna was never going to sleep very much, because she is a daughter of selene. they can do a lot with very little rest
-aruna sleeps more often when she is around leo, but she doesn't know why. the reason is that she feels safe when she's near him, and part of why she never sleeps is because she never feels safe
-aruna has an unnaturally low body temperature, and is slightly anemic, so she feels cold a lot. another reason why she feels drawn to leo
-she likes boobs. a lot.
as the story goes on, and we see more, i will be ADDING ON (i have a bunch of nico headcanons w aruna, but i havent published those chapters yet ehehehehhe)
