Chapter 23 (Truth After Fight)

They found the apartment in disarray. Madlen turned to Andrew who appeared taken aback. Emma remained fixated on the state of the apartment.
Madlen: "What happened here, Andrew? Is this related to what happened at the company?"
Andrew: "I think so!"
Madlen: "When was the last time you were here?"
Andrew glanced at Emma, who was lost in thought, reminiscing about their memories in the apartment.
Andrew: "About three years ago!"
Emma turned towards Andrew. They exchanged a glance filled with sadness and longing. They entered the apartment, and Andrew shut the door. They attempted to tidy up the place to make it habitable, but the condition of the apartment was appalling.

Therefore, Andrew arranged for another apartment until the morning to examine the building's cameras and such. He obtained the key and took them to the new apartment. Emma gathered some clothes for herself and Madlen from the previous apartment. After they changed their clothes, Andrew ordered food, and they all sat down together.
Emma: "Who could have done this, Andrew? Are you involved in mafia activities or something?"
Andrew: "Of course not, Emma! But I do have enemies who might be responsible."
Emma: "What do they want from you? What if you were alone at the company today? Or what if you were here? Is there something they might need from you?"
Andrew: "I make deals every day with a lot of companies and people. The perpetrator could be one of them. I cannot pinpoint anyone because it could have been a long time ago."

Madlen: "You should report this to the police!"
Andrew: "I will inform my friend tomorrow after reviewing the cameras. Besides, this apartment is a bit smaller than mine, and it only has two rooms. So, you can share one, and I'll take the second one, or you can take both, and I'll sleep here. Do whatever you want."
Emma: "No, we will sleep together, no problem. You should sleep in a room. It's cold."
Andrew glanced at Emma with a smile.
Andrew: "Eat then!"
They commenced eating in silence until Emma spoke to Madlen.
Emma: "Yes, Madlen! Tell us then, why didn't you inform Peter?"
Madlen: "I told you, I'm afraid of his reaction."
Andrew: "Why are you scared, Madlen? Wasn't he with you throughout your treatment journey after you got married? Of course, he knows that something like this might happen when you receive treatment."

Emma: "Andrew is right, Madlen! Did Peter allude to not wanting children?"
Madlen shook her head.
Emma: "Then what's the problem? You know what? I think it's pregnancy hormones."
Madlen laughed!
Madlen: "I'll wait to see you at that time then!!"
Emma laughed, but she became confused and glanced at Andrew, who was also staring at her. Emma turned to Madlen again, attempting to conceal her confusion.
Emma: "You'll tell Peter tomorrow then! Right?"
Madlen: "I have to!"
Emma held Madlen's hand.
Emma: "Don't worry, everything will be okay!"
Madlen smiled.
Madlen: "I'll go to sleep then. Good night."
Emma/Andrew: "Good night."

Madlen left, and Emma and Andrew remained together. They sensed a tension between them, so Emma decided to enter the room.

At midnight, Emma found herself unable to sleep. She covered Madlen, then decided to go out for a bit. When she opened the door, she found Andrew leaving his room too.

Andrew: "Hey!"

Emma: "Hey! Where are you going?"

Andrew: "I couldn't sleep. You?"

Emma: "Same. I was thinking of sitting in the balcony for a while."

Andrew: "I thought of that too!"

Emma: "Okay. You go ahead, I'll go back inside."

Andrew: "No, we can go together if you don't mind."
