Unexpected Love

Chapter 27 (A Twist Again?)

Emma waited for him to come back to the office, but he never showed up. She gathered her things and went back home, where she found that Sia and Olivia were out. Emma decided to wait for them, and while she did, she messaged Olivia.
Emma: Olivia, where are you?
Olivia: We're at Madlen's house! Come join us!
Emma hesitated for a moment, but since she didn't have anything else to do, she decided to go. When she arrived, Olivia opened the door and asked:
Olivia: Why do you look so sad? What happened?
Emma: Oh, nothing important, just tired from work.
She hugged Madlen and took the baby from her to hold for a while. They all noticed the sadness on her face and started to ask her about it.
Sia: Emma, are you okay?
Emma looked at her and nodded with a smile, then turned to caress the baby's cheek.

Madlen: Did you have a fight with Andrew? What's wrong?
Emma: No, everything's fine, guys! We just had an intense discussion about work.
Although they looked suspicious, they didn't pressure her further.
Emma: Is Peter here, or is he in a meeting with Andrew?
Madlen: No, he's not here. He went out to get some things.
Emma felt a little nervous, but she didn't want to show it. However, her jealousy increased when she learned that Andrew might be with Tom and his wife. She started to remember how the woman was always trying to get close to him and touch him in any way she could. They sat there until evening and then went back to their own home. Noah had already arrived, but Andrew was still not back.

Meanwhile, at Tom's house, Andrew was sitting with Tom and some other men. He had been distracted most of the time, as he and Emma hadn't fought much during their marriage or even before it. He snapped back to reality when Tom called his name.
Tom: Mr. Andrew, are you with us?
Andrew: Oh, yeah, sorry, I got a little distracted there.
Tom: No problem. So, what do you think about the offer?
Andrew looked at all of them as they waited for his answer.
Andrew: It's good, but I need to know what exactly is going to happen and why you can't participate with any other company for it!
The men got nervous and looked at Tom.

Tom: It's not something illegal for sure, Mr. Andrew! We just need a known and trusted company like yours to make the procedures easier and faster.
Andrew: Then, I'll discuss this with my partners, and also our lawyer will contact with your lawyer to understand all the needed information.
Tom: But Mr. Andrew, will you really make a young and inexperienced girl like your lawyer handle important issues like this? I think you must decide alone!
Andrew: First, the girl you're talking about is my wife! Second, she knows very well how to do her work perfectly even better than many older lawyers that you have! So I'll see their opinions, then I'll give you our reply. Good night, Mr. Tom!
Andrew said and left without even shaking hands with Tom, which made him angry. One of the men started talking.

The man: What will we do, Tom? We obeyed you and made a contract that will make us lose a lot to gain his trust! But it didn't work, if he found out the true plans, he will do what he did to us in the past again, and it will be our end, Tom.
Tom: Don't ever worry about it! Killing him won't take a minute. We gave him a chance, but he didn't use it!
Andrew was about to get in his car, but Tom's wife stopped him.
Emily: Andrew! Did something happen? Why do you look upset?
Andrew: Nothing, Mrs. Emily! I just have to go home. Is there anything else?
Emily: No, I just wanted to see you!
Andrew: Thank you, but I have to go now!
Emily: Just a minute!
Emily said and approached to kiss him on his lips, but Andrew moved away quickly.

Andrew: What are you doing? I don't know if you don't care about your husband, but I love my wife, okay? So stay away from me!
Andrew got into his car quickly, feeling remorse for not believing Emma's suspicions. When he reached home, they were all sleeping. He went to their room and found Emma sleeping on the chair by the window. He felt sad and blamed himself for leaving her like that, and for making her wait for him in this way. He took off his jacket and tried to carry her slowly to the bed, but Emma woke up once he touched her.
Emma: Andrew? When did you come? Are you okay?
Andrew hugged her and started stroking her hair.
Emma: I was so worried about you. And I tried to call you many times, but it was unavailable.
Andrew moved away and took his phone out of his pocket.
