Winchester, Virginia

Sandra was at the Winchester Inn, making the beds. An intoxicating aroma hung in the air, which smelled of apple pie. It was a pleasant scent, to say the least. The manager, Cletus, wanted to speak to her.

"Sandra, this isn't easy for me to say," he said, his face staring at the ground.

"What's that, sir?" asked Sandra, beads of sweat falling down her face.

"You're fired," said Cletus.

"What, why?" stammered Sandra.

"No reason, I just wanted to fire you," said Cletus.

"This job was all I had," croaked Sandra. "Now, how am I gonna make ends meet?"

"April Fools!" laughed Cletus. "I really hornswaggled ya!"

"Unbelievable!" scoffed Sandra. "I was about to file for unemployment!"

"You're all good, Sandra!" chuckled Cletus. "You're not fired! You can go back to what you were doing!"

Without a word, Sandra went back to making the beds, not amused by her boss's April Fool's prank.

A/N I think that was totally unprofessional of Cletus to prank Sandra like that! How is that even funny? 😡 Don't be a silent reader. Please leave feedback. Thanks.
