"What...what's wrong with these two big brothers all of a sudden?"

Shen Qiqi blinked, reaching out and waving gently in front of one of the guards, saying, "Hello? Can you hear me?"

She called out several times in succession, but the two guards remained motionless, "What's going on..."

Suddenly, one of the guards looked up, a look of fear in their eyes, their lips trembling, "We were careless just now, please come in, two of you."

How did they suddenly agree?!

Shen Qiqi furrowed her brows, her probing gaze wandering between the two guards, feeling that something was amiss.

Looking at the stiff movements of the two guards, their pupils dark and lifeless, and their speech tone mechanical like robots, as if they had become puppets controlled by someone or something.

"Junior sister." Suddenly, a cold voice sounded in Shen Qiqi's ear, "Let's go in."

"Senior sister..." Shen Qiqi responded, but before she could say anything, her left palm suddenly felt a chill as a few slender fingers lightly hooked onto it.

Shen Qiqi was momentarily stunned, feeling a tingling sensation like electricity on her fingertips, and instinctively pulled her hand back, but couldn't pull it out.

Liu Shuang's figure was graceful as she walked ahead, her steps light, and although her movements were gentle, her fingers had a strength that Shen Qiqi couldn't break free from.

Shen Qiqi followed dazedly, lagging a few steps behind, unknowingly being led inside by Liu Shuang, forgetting about the incident with the two guards just now.

She was being led forward stumblingly, her limbs out of her control, her mind blank, with only one thought remaining: so cold.

Even though it was sunny outside, Liu Shuang's hand felt as if it was in an icy cave, with a faint cold aura swirling around it, like a venomous snake lurking in the dark, suddenly raising its head and biting her, making her shiver all over, and even her blood seemed to freeze.

They entered the library, and the heavy door slowly closed behind them, until the outside light disappeared completely. Liu Shuang then let go of Shen Qiqi's hand, turned around and looked at her with a faint tone.

"Junior sister, what's wrong?"

Shen Qiqi held one hand with the other, rubbing her fingertips nervously, and the bone-chilling cold that had enveloped her was slowly dissipating with Liu Shuang's departure.

She swallowed a mouthful of air and stammered, "It's nothing..."

Whether it was her imagination or not, Liu Shuang's demeanor actually made her feel... afraid. Was this the legendary protagonist halo at novel?!

Liu Shuang's gaze swept over her hand, her eyes deepening. "Junior sister, do you know what kind of books you want to read?"

"I..." Shen Qiqi regained her senses and said hesitantly, "What books are there here?"

Liu Shuang raised her eyebrows lightly at her words, took a step back, and presented the scene in front of her.

Shen Qiqi's gaze suddenly widened, and she was momentarily stunned.

From the outside, the library appeared to be of normal size, but inside it seemed to be a whole new world, astonishing and breathtaking.

A winding stone staircase spiraled upward like a helix, seemingly endless. A beam of white light shone down from the roof at the top, illuminating the entire circular space. The curved walls were filled with countless scrolls and ancient books, seemingly holding the history of many ages. It was a magnificent sight, as if taken from a fantasy movie.
