A/N: Hello everyone. I hope you've had a great week and if not, I hope this week is better. Sorry this is a bit late, I couldn't get into my account. Anyways enjoy the next chapter of 8 Days, 8 Letters.

Present Day: July 1899

Jaime's POV

"Heya Princess," a voice said next to me. I knew that voice. It was Spot.

"Hey King Idiot," I said. "What's the latest in Brookie news?"

He laughed. It was our little joke. The very core of our friendship.

"Aye, nothin' much," he replied. "Just da usual drama with Queens."

I rolled my eyes, "What happened this time?"

"Just dem over steppin' deir boundaries by coming over and trying to order us around," he said. He hated it when other people ordered his newsies around, Mac and I are the only exceptions. "Then we's nicely told 'em ta leave."

I rolled my eyes, "And by nicely told 'em ta leave, you's mean you's gave 'em enough shinas to run a shoe shinin' business."

"Hey as dat writa said, 'all's fair in love n war,'" he laughed.

"Yeah in actual wars not petty little arguments," I smirked.

This war had gone on far too long and it all started because of a tiny game of cards between the current Queens leada and the former co-leader of Brooklyn all known as Match and Ace.

"You's get it. Right," he asked. "Especially after everything dey's done to us."

The accident.

"Yeah. I do," I replied, gripping the railing. "Dey took our brothers from us."

"Hey," he said, grabbing my hand. I turned to face him. For the first time in a long time. I saw a glimpse of the Spot I once knew.

"He'll come back," he said calmly. Not a hint of doubt in face. "He's gotta. We need 'im."

"Mac needs 'im" I finished.

Spot's POV

Mac and Ace were like our brothers. We loved each other like brothers and when something happened, Ace went down for his brothers. After it happened we all were doubtful he'd be back. Except for Jaime. He always fulfilled his promises so she remembered his word and waited. She always knew the answer to a problem or what will happen. For the first time ever, Books didn't have an answer.

"So, what's new in the world of Hatten," I asked.

"Aye. Same ol' story," she said. "Although we did get a couple of new boys today."

"How'd dey do," I asked, curiously. They haven't gotten anyone new since Tumblr joined and that was 2 years ago. Although I was more curious to see how Books felt about them.

"According ta Jack, dey're a couple of born newsies," she smiled. God I loved that smile. It was just perfect. It made you feel so good when you see Books smile, even more so when you're the one who made her smile.

"You's trusted Jack to train 'em," I shouted. Don't get me wrong they trust Jack with their life, but not with new newsies. I expected the shut-the-hell-up-Conlon-before-I-throw-you-off-this-bridge look, but instead she just nodded.

"Don't worry your pretty lil' head about it," she spoke. I felt my cheeks heat up. I smirked I knew she liked me.

"Hey wipe that look off your face," she scolded. "It's just an expression."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever you'd say Princess," I remarked. "You's know you's likes me, you's just too embarrassed to say it out loud."

"Ha. No," she laughed. "Never gonna happen. You's just a friend to me, that's it and that's all we'll ever be, you's got that."

"How 'bout we make a deal," I said.

"Oh, yeah, what's that," she replied.

I smirked, "If I can get you's to say that you's likes me by the next time we see each other then you's have to go on a date with me."

"Alright, but if you's don't, you'd gotta finance, Racer's gambling addiction," she negotiated.

"Deal," I replied.

We shook on it. I have 8 days to get Books to fall for me or go broke.

"Now let's get to Brooklyn," I said. "We's gotta date."

"It's not a date," she remarked.

"Hey soon this will be our dates," I said.

"Yeah," she laughed. "When newsies get a fair livin' wage."

With that we headed to Brooklyn before Mac assumes we eloped to Queens.
