Normal mer facts-
Nightmare and Dream are both 521 years old.
The mers sometimes act like their underwater half. (Ex. The shiver sometimes hunts like sharks.)
All the sharks originally came from different shivers.
Certain mers can turn completely into their animal counterpart. (Ex. Geno and Ink)
The sharks are quite overprotective of each other.
Most mers find the surface interesting but some hate it.
Most of the mers I write about have scars. Mostly the shiver.
The mers gain some of their animal's abilities. (Ex. Nightmare can squeeze in really small spaces and it freaks the shiver out.)
Leviathan facts-
All Leviathans can change their form to be really small or really big. (Ex. Dream in "Crying Goldfish" and Error in "Leviathan Error".)
Reaper is the tallest Leviathan, after him it's Dream, Papyrus, Error, [Classic] Sans, Nightmare, and Ink.
Leviathans are mostly territorial.
Leviathans age faster than normal mers.
Only Leviathan eyes glow.
Only 7 are allowed to exist at a time. If there are more the extras will either be removed from the ocean or their powers are stripped from them. (This has only happened twice.)
The only time all 7 have been in the same place is to discuss any sea-wide issues.
Each Leviathan generally control a different ocean than the rest. (Ex. Reaper controls the Artic Ocean.)
Just some random headcannons/facts I came up with.
