Wrestling One-Shots Volume 5

Roderick Strong

"Leave him alone, Chris!" You stand in the middle of the ring, members of the JAS surrounding you.

Adam lies on the floor behind you, already a victim of Chris and his goons. Outside of the ring, Britt has also been the victim of an attack.

"Are you sure that you wanna do this, sweetheart?" Angelo Parker taunts you. "You could join us you know? I've always thought you were too good for that clown Adam Cole and his girlfriend anyway." He grins at you, offering you a hand.

Your head rushes with a million thoughts. Adam has been your best friend for over a decade. He's like a brother to you. And Britt has become one of your best girlfriends. They're like family. But what can you do? There are five members of the JAS, plus the Outcasts now. And you're just one person. You can't fend them all off at once.

All hope seems lost and you don't know what to do. The AEW crowd is deafeningly silent as they eagerly await your decision. But then for some unknown reason, the crowd erupts into an uproar of cheers.

"What the hell?" You yelp when people seem to appear out of nowhere behind you. "Roderick? Kyle?" You glance at either side of you to find two old friends.

"Hey, Y/N." Kyle flashes you a goofy grin.

You turn to your opposite side and find Roderici smiling at you as well. "Nice to see you too, gorgeous." He greets you. "Get Adam and Britt out of here. We've got this."

"But there's only two of you." You are quick to point out the numbers game.

"Nah, we bought a backup." Roderick chuckles and slyly nods behind Jericho and his buddies.

You look behind Jericho and spot Bobby Fish just as he hops the barricade. So, with the odds now much better than they were five minutes ago, you step back and help Adam out of the ring.

On the floor, you leave Adam on the ramp and go to help Britt to her feet. When you come around the corner, you find Angelo waiting for you. "Noy so fast, beautiful." He grins at you. "We've still got some things to talk about."

You stop a few feet shy of Britt and weigh your options. One man is much easier to deal with than five, so your odds are much better. Still, Angelo is much bigger than you are. And he could just ignore you and go for Britt if you try anything.

"Hey, jackass!" Roderick hops down from the ring and comes to your rescue. "The lady's already got a man." He glares at Angelo.

Roderick and Angelo start going at it, which gives you time to help Britt to her feet. You get her over to Adam and help both of them up the ramp. Once you're at the top of the ramp and the couple is being helped by medical staff, you head back down the ramp.

"You three need any help?" You slide into the ring and come to a stop on either side of Roderick and Kyle.

"Fiesty as ever I see, Y/N." Kyle snickers,

Bobby and Roderick laugh with Kyle as the action in the ring comes to a stalemate. "And twice as pretty," Roderick adds with a playful wink. "You ready to end this?" He glances at you.

You nod and you help send the JAS running for the hills. You laugh as they all retreat and are immediately met with a hug by Kyle.

"So, how much did you miss me?" Kyle asks as he picks you off your feet.

"Terribly." You giggle. "My life is dull when you're not around to brighten it up, Kyle O'Reilly." You joke with him.

Kyle set you down and Bobby goes in for a hug as well. "It's good to see you again, shorty." He teases you.

"Good to have you back, Fish." You tease him back.

With Kyle and Bobby reacquainted, that just leaves Roderick. You walk over to his side with a hand on your hip and a playful look in your eye. "Long time no see, Strong." You greet him. "The other guys finally get tired of you?"

"More like I got tired of them," Roderick replies.

The two of you stare at one another for a moment, and anyone could mistake the situation for a seriously tense encounter. But neither of you can keep up the charade for long. A smile cracks on your face and you fall forward into Roderick's arms.

"I missed you." You let out a content sigh once you're being embraced in Roderick's arms. "I was beginning to think that they were never going to release you."

"So was I." Roderick chuckles and hugs you tightly. "It looks like they let me go just in time too. How are you always managing to get yourself into trouble when I'm not around?" He asks you.

You giggle and let Roderick go from the hug. "What can I say? I like to remind you just how much you care." You tease him. "Plus, I like watching you get all protective and mean."

"Of course." Roderick shakes his head and leans forward to kiss you on the cheek. "Come on, we should go see how Adam and Britt are."

"Ah, we all know Adam is fine." You wave your hand dismissively. "He's got a thick skull."

Your joke earns a laugh from Kyle and Bobby as everyone heads backstage to find Adam and Britt. You're informed that the couple is back in the trainer's room, so everyone heads back there for the reunion.

"Well, I'll be damned." Adam chuckles when everyone comes through the door. "Nice seeing you boys again."

Roderick, Kyle, and Bobby all head over to chat with Adam while you check on Britt. You walk over to her and give her a small hug.

"How are you feeling?" You ask Britt.

"I'll be fine." Britt shrugs, taking her time to sit up and talk to you. "Thanks for the help." She thanks you with a small smile.

You shrug and nod over to Adam and the boys. "Ah, don't thank me. They did all the work." You insist.

"Right." Britt lets out a small giggle. "Hey, aren't you dating Roderick right now?" She asks you.

"Last time I checked, yeah." You joke. "It's been a bit difficult with the whole conflicting schedules thing. But he's here now, finally." You smile to yourself at the thought of having Roderick back.

"I'm happy for you." Britt shares your smile. "It's always good to have someone you love watching your back. Plus now we can go on double dates!" She jokes.

You laugh and hug Britt again. "Oh, it's going to be so much fun messing with them." You help her to her feet and over to the group. "Make way! VIPs coming through!"

You shoulder past Bobby and Kyle so that Britt can sit with Adam. Once she's sat down, you step back over to Roderick who slings a casual arm over your shoulder. Everyone starts talking about revenge plans and a warm fuzzy feeling overtakes you. Things are looking mighty bright for the future now.
