"Baby, will you quit stressing?" Jey asks as you pace the room nervously. "You're starting to make me nervous." He jokes with a small chuckle.
"You should be nervous!" You come to a stop in front of your husband. "What you did? What we did? I don't think I've ever seen Roman this angry." You run a hand over your face in an attempt to hide your stressed expression.
Jey reaches forward and grabs your hand and places it on his chest. "Y/N, baby. It's going to be fine." He assures you with that dashing smile that you love. "Right, bro?" He turns to Jimmy on the other side of the room. "Tell Y/N that we're going to be fine before she explodes." He jokes.
"It'll all work out, N/N," Jimmy replies. "It always does."
You let out a sigh, still not feeling good about the whole situation. But Jey's confidence that things will turn out okay makes you feel a bit better.
"Alright." You pull your hand back from Jey. "But I'm coming out there with you guys." You insist with crossed arms.
"Y/N, baby, no." Jey shakes his head. "Come on, we've talked about this." He reminds you.
You shake your head back at him with a look of determination. "If you're so convinced that everything is going to be fine, then it shouldn't be a problem? Right?" You ask him.
Jey bites the inside of his cheek and glances at Jimmy, signaling for some backup. Jimmy gets the hint and walks over to the two of you. "Jey is right, Y/N." He sets a hand on your shoulder. "We can handle Roman. We've got a plan."
"A plan that we can't execute if we're too worried about you being out there with us," Jey adds. "So please, baby. Just hang backstage this time?"
"Fine." You huff but surrender to Jey's plea. "But I still don't like any of this." You remind the twins.
Jey cracks a small smile and nudges you playfully. "You've never liked any of my plans." He teases you.
"Maybe you're just a really bad planner." You shrug with a playful grin.
Jey fakes a hurt look before pulling you into his side and kissing the top of your head gently. "Hang out here and be safe baby. We'll be back later."
"Yeah! After we get some justice." Jimmy adds.
You nod and let the twins head out to meet with Roman in the ring for an impromptu Tribal Court session. You watch from the monitor in the locker room as Roman comes out to the ring with Solo and Paul at his side. It pains you to see Solo out there with Roman. The two of you have become good friends since he started hanging out with the group. You're like a big sister to him. Or at least you thought you were.
Roman finally makes it to the ring after a long-winded entrance. You chew on your nails when the arguing starts. You hate how much hurt and frustration you can see on Jey's face even through a tv screen.
"Don't get close." You mumble to yourself as Jey gets in Roman's face. "He's a damn good actor."
Tribal Court drags on for almost an hour. An hour of you chewing your nails as you watch Jey and Jimmy fight for the justice that they deserve. Then, in the blink of an eye, it all goes to hell. Just when it was looking like Roman might finally give in and admit that he's let his narcissism and ego get in the way of what matters most. Family.
"No!" You shout when Roman begins his assault on Jey.
The urge to run out to the ring and defend your husband is overwhelming. But you fight your intrusive thoughts and remain in the locker room. 'Jey would want me safe.' You remind yourself. 'I'd only be getting in the way.'
You remain in the locker room until it looks like Roman and Solo have finished their assault on the twins. When they start heading up the ramp, you make a B-line out of the locker room and down to the ring.
You pass Solo on your way out to the ring and the two of you lock eyes. "You didn't have to do that." You whisper to him as you pass.
Solo stops for a second and watches you hurry down the ramp to check on the twins. You rush over to Jey first, naturally.
"Jey!" You rush over to him. "Jey are you alright?" You begin helping him to his feet.
"Y/N?! Yeah, baby, I'm okay." Jey leans on you for support. "Where's Jimmy?" He glances around.
You glance to the other side of the ring where Jimmy is being helped by the medical team after Solo dropped him through the commentary table. "He's being helped out by the medics." You explain. "He's gonna be alright. What about you? Are you okay?" You ask him again.
"I'm pissed off!" Jey clenches his jaw. "Did you see Roman leave?" He asks you.
"I passed him and Solo on my way out here." You nod. "Baby, he can wait. Look at Jimmy. He needs us." You point to Jimmy still being helped.
Jey lets out a frustrated sigh but he knows that he can't abandon his brother like that. You and Jey head backstage with the medical staff where an ambulance is waiting to take Jimmy out to be looked after.
"Y/N, baby. Go with Jimmy." Jey gives you a small shove toward his brother.
"What? No! Jey, you're coming too." You insist.
Jey leans down and kisses you harshly, cupping your face in his hands. "Please, baby." He pleads with you. "He needs someone to look after him. And I can't let Roman get away with it."
"...Okay." You nod solemnly. "I'll go."
"Thank you." Jey kisses you again. "Look after him." He adds.
You nod and climb into the back of the ambulance with Jimmy and the medics. "Stay safe."
"Always am." Jey nods before the doors shut on you.
