It’s a stormy Wednesday night while Dynamite is filming its weekly show. You are backstage hanging out with Ana Jay while you wait for your match against Julia Hart.

“I still can’t believe that they scheduled you to get in the ring with, Julia,” Ana comments on the situation. “Didn’t you and her used to be like best friends?” She asks you.

“That was a long time ago.” You nod, reminiscing about when you and Julia used to be in a tag team together, But that was before she changed. Before The House of Black got their claws into the sweet and bubbly Julia that used to be like a sister to you. “She’s not the same person she was when I knew her.”

Ana nods, understanding what it’s like to lose a close friend to change. “Well, don’t kick her ass too bad.” She jokes with a grin.

“I’ll try.” You muse and your entrance music starts playing. “That’s my cue. I’ll see you around, Ana” You wave to her as you walk off.

You head through the tunnel and down the ramp to the ring, high-fiving some fans as you go. You climb into the ring and walk over to your corner to wait for Julia to come out.

The house lights flick off, and when they come back on, Julia is standing at the top of the ramp with the rest of The House of Black. She leads the group down the ramp and to the ring before the house lights flicker and turn back up to their normal brightness.

“Julia.” You nod to your former best friend as she takes her place in the corner diagonal to you.

“Y/N. It’s been a while.” Julia flashes a smile at you.

You nod as the bell rings and the official steps out of the way. You and Julia step out of your corners and begin circling one another like vultures to a fresh corpse. The temperature in the ring feels icy cold, despite the people packed into the building. And the electricity in the room is high from the storm raging outside.

“I like the new look.” You taunt Julia as the two of you are circling one another.

“Thank you.” Julia flashes an eerie smile back at you. “You know, you could join me. Join us.” She gestures to Malakai, Brody, and Buddy all standing outside the ring watching the match unfold.

You snicker and shake your head. “Sorry, the goth look really isn’t my thing.” You joke.

Your joke doesn’t seem to excuse your former best friend. You watch her smile twist in a sort of malicious smirk and she lunges forward at you. You step out of the way just in time to avoid being tackled. But Julia turns sharply and catches you in a headlock.

You quickly grab Julia’s arms before she can get her hooks in and toss her over your head and onto her back. But again, the maneuver doesn’t seem to phase her. Julia rolls onto her stomach and slowly rises to her feet.

“Don’t you miss me, Y/N?” She asks you, her evil smirk melting into a more innocent and sincere one. “I’ve missed you! You were my best friend.” She reminds you.

“Of course I miss you!” You snap back, feeling an uncharacteristic surge of anger coursing through you. “But you left me!” You remind her harshly.

Julia begins stalking around you again, looking for an opening to get you off of your feet again. But you do your best to keep your guard up. “It doesn’t have to be this way anymore, Y/N. We can be together again! You just have to give in!”

Julia lunges at you again and attacks your knees this time. Your legs buckle under you and your knees hit the mat below you. You grunt in pain as Julia comes around to the front of you. Looking up at her through your messy hair, you can see the soft expression on her face as she reaches a hand out to place it on your cheek.

“Come back to me.” Julia pleads with you. “Together, no one can stop us.”

“...I…” You hesitate to answer. “No! Julia, no.”

A look of disappointment crosses Julia’s face before all emotions are drawn from her features. Her gentle hand is removed from your cheek before she kicks you harshly in the face. You crumble fully to the mat and Julia begins a barrage of harsh kicks anywhere she can land them on you. Unable to defend yourself from the attack, you let her continue her assault and the bell rings.

Malakai steps into the ring and pulls Julia off of you. Then, seconds later, a pair of strong hands help you slowly to your feet. You groan in pain but welcome the help. That is until you realize who it is helping you out. Buddy Matthews.

“Let me go!” You wince in pain and attempt to pull yourself away from Matthews.

“It’s alright, doll,” Matthews replies, keeping ahold of you. “I’m just helping you backstage. No strings attached.” He assures you.

You don’t want his help. Every nerve in your body is screaming at you to stay away from him. But your legs feel so weak. You’d surely sink to the floor the moment Buddy wasn’t helping you walk. So you let him help you.

Once you get backstage, a couple of the trainers rush to your side. Buddy hands you over to them and you feel safe again.

“I’m sorry about, Julia.” Buddy offers you an apology. And his tone seems sincere. “It won’t happen again.” He assures you.

“Right.” You nod and wince at the pain that shoots through your neck. “Thanks for the help.” You thank him.

Buddy nods and turns to walk off. As the trainers are helping you down the hall so you can get looked at, you see Buddy walk over to Malakai and Brody. Malakai still has Julia locked in his arms and she still looks like a maniac. You watch Buddy talk with Malakai for a brief moment before he and the others all glance back at you for a split second.

You lock eyes with Julia and her body language seems to relax a bit. The last thing that you see before you turn around the corner is Malakai releasing Julia from his grip. A shiver runs down your spine and you shake your head. ‘She’s crazy.’ You remind yourself. ‘So why do I almost feel bad for her?’
