"did you get enough love, my little dove,
why do you cry?
and i'm sorry i left, but it was for the best
though it never felt right
my little versailles."

"one day, i wanna be just like you!" the bright eyed little girl spoke as she grinned at her older brother.

he reaches down and rubs her head. "one day, you'll be just like me, dove."

"shall we look at the moon, my little loon
why do you cry?
make the most of your life, while it is rife
while it is light."

"lynn, stay behind me."

"what's going on?" the girl asks her brother. "charlie, im scared."

the boy turns to her with tears in his eyes. "dove, i love you, no matter what okay? you're the best little sister i'll ever have. take care of yourself, stay right here."

"charlie?"

"well you do enough talk
my little hawk, why do you cry?
tell me what did you learn from the tillamook burn?
or the fourth of july?
we're all gonna die."

"my baby is dead!" her mother sobs. "oh, oh my baby! my baby, my-my baby!"

lynn watches her. the well-dressed man watches her. "i'm sorry to inform you, miss. he was a brave man."

he turns his attention to lynn. "take this," he says. "you'll need it one day."

"we're all gonna die."
