Cursed Consequences

A WEEK LATER

EVELYN'S POV

I sat in charms, wondering what was going to happen.

My parents would literally disown me and my mum would be so disappointed. What if everyone finds out? Nope that can not happen. I still have to attend Hogwarts for another year. I don't want to make Severus look bad nor did I want everyone to see me as a stupid girl.

"White!" I snapped out of my thoughts and saw McGonagall standing by the door, staring directly at me.

"Come with me." She said.

Fuck...

I stood up slowly and made my way to her, feeling everyone's eyes on me. I reached the doorway and McGonagall began walking. I followed her and stayed behind. I wasn't sure where we were going, and the walk was silent.

"Do you really love him?" She asked, all of a sudden.

I was a bit shocked by her asking that question but had to think of my answer carefully.

"Yes, I love Severus. I knew all along the risk and the rules but I began befriending him and soon I began to fall for him."

She said nothing after that and the rest of the walk was silent.

We reached Dumbledore's office once again.

God, I must be here for the consequences...

McGonagall stood in front of the statue and said a word. Then the statue began moving and the staircase began moving.

"Dumbledore is waiting for you."

"Ok, thanks." I began walking onto the stairs.

"Also, I'm sorry for overreacting the last time we talked." She said quietly.

"It's fine, I would've reacted the same to something so shocking." I smiled and walked up the stairs.

I reached the door and I knocked softly. The door opened and I saw Severus standing by a window and the headmaster in his seat, his head in his hands.

"Headmaster?" I asked quietly.

"Ah Evelyn, come in." He stood up and Severus looked my way. I walked inside and stood close to his desk. Severus immediately ran to me and hugged me. His arms squeezed me tightly, not allowing me to breathe.

"Sev..." I whispered, trying to pull away.

Severus let go of me but stood in front of me. His arms, still around my waist.

"You can't do this to me!" Severus yelled and turned to Dumbledore.

"You will not take her away!"

"Severus, I did all I could, and this is what we could come to as a conclusion. If I don't make this your punishment, word will spread to the ministry. Then you will be put in Azkaban. Please Severus, it is the only way."

Severus turned to me and fell to his knees, crying into my shirt. I wrapped my arms around his head and stroked his hair.

"What happened?"

"Well, the only conclusion I could come to with Minerva was that...you'd be patrolled to stay away from him...until you leave Hogwarts...that or he gets fired..."

"I'd rather quit than never see her again!..." Severus grabbed onto me and stood up.

"Severus...even if you quit, you cannot have a relationship with her...she's still underage. You'd be sent to Azkaban because you have already broken the rules whether you continue to work here or not."

Severus looked furious. I grabbed his hand and pulled it to get his attention. He looked at me and his face softened.

"Please...Severus...this is the only way.."

"No....there has to be another way...I can't live without you..."

We all stood there in silence, not wanting to say anything else.

Dumbledore finally spoke.

"So do we have an agreement?"

Severus and I stared at each other. Both of us were letting tears stream down our cheeks. I nodded at him slowly as his hands held mine.

"Alright, I will be patrolled to stay away from him..."

"And I will stay away from her." Severus managed to say, letting tears fall down his cheeks.

"How long do I have to stay patrolled?" I asked.

"The rest of this year...and next year..." Dumbledore said.

I sighed loudly and fell into Severus's arms. Severus embraced me, his chin on the top of my head.

"Starting tomorrow Evelyn will be escorted everywhere by different professors. Severus, you will not go anywhere near Evelyn unless it is an emergency."

We broke apart and I took a step back.

"I'm sorry Severus...I'm sorry Evelyn...Severus please return to your class, and I will escort Evelyn to her class..."

We both stared at each other. Both of us were just shocked and broken. I saw him quickly turn around and walk towards the door. I turned towards Dumbledore. Soon I felt uneasy and turned back around. I saw Severus just standing by the door. His hand was frozen midway to push the door open. Severus turned around and looked at me.

"No..." We both whispered under our breaths.

We both ran towards each other and hugged. His arms held onto me and I held onto him. I inhaled his scent for the last time, his warmth, his protection.

"Evelyn...my love...I will come back to you somehow...someday..." he whispered.

"I will never stop thinking about you.." I managed to say in between breaths.

"No more staying by my side?..." I asked, sobbing.

"I'm sorry...I can't believe I'm breaking that promise..."

"I love you...Sev..."

"I love you too Evelyn..."

His finger brushed against my cheek for the last time and he gave me a wide smile, his eyes filled with sadness.

We broke apart and he quickly walked away, not wanting to stay longer, feeling completely broken. I stood there as I felt myself fall into complete darkness. Without him I felt unsafe, hurt, dead, shattered, and lost.
