Mike Wheeler: Midtown high's resident geek that has always had a great love for all things science. A few weeks ago, he turned fifteen years old, and will be entering his sophomore year of high school soon.
Being a nerd, Mike should love going to school and learning about new things. But, unfortunately, it's the opposite. He dreads going to school everyday, all because of one person: Troy Walsh. Sure, he is ignored by pretty much everyone, but Troy actively tries to make Mike's life miserable.
But, high school isn't all that bad. He at least has his four friends, Will, Lucas, Dustin, and Max to help. The four boys have been friends since as long as they can remember, with Max joining the group during eighth grade when her family moved to New York.
Mike's home life is about as good as someone his age could ask for. His father, Ted, is a hard working man who loves his two children. And Karen is a nice woman who spends most of her time working for F.E.A.S.T., an organization dedicated to helping homeless people.
The new school year starts soon; a school year that will present a new set of challenges that Mike has never experienced before...
