Katherine and her friend Susan were on their way to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. They were driving from North Dakota. They were currently in South Dakota. The air conditioning in the car wasn't working, and it was really cooking, due to the extreme heat.
Jazz music was playing on the radio. The temperature was a steamy 97 degrees, with heat indices reaching 100. A Heat Warning was in effect for much of the Southern Plains, and Rockies.
"Oh no, I forgot something!" gasped Susan.
"What did you forget, Susan?" asked Katherine.
"My purse! I left it at home!"
"Oh, for crying out loud!" growled Katherine. "We're gonna have to go back!" Katherine would have to take the upcoming exit, and drive in the opposite direction.
It would take them ages to reach Yellowstone National Park.
