章 9

They know each other?

Rimuru stared quietly at the two women interaction. He couldn't help, but wonder.. if there are other things from your past that may be brought up.

"Millim.. Millim.." You were thinking. Have you heard that name before? Then it clicked. "Millim!!"

The two adults squealed at each other.

"I'm so happy to see you? How long has it been?"

"Almost a century, that's for sure!"

You both laughed with each other.

"You were so young when I last saw you." The pink head woman, Millim, eyed you with a smile. "Now look at you! You're huge!"

"I can say the same for you, Millim."

"How do you guys.. know each other?" Rimuru didn't want to interrupt, but he was far too curious how such a serious battle got twisted into a friendly reunion.

"Oh, I was once a demon lord. Millim and I knew each other from then."

A demon lord?  Rimuru eyes widen at the statement. She said that so casually too.

"Sorry for all the commotion, (Nick Name). I've been hearing so much about my bestie. I just wanted to see how strong he was. He has potential." Millim sheepishly smiled. Eyes closed as she scratched behind her head.

"Besties?" You looked at Rimuru before turning back to the woman in pigtails.

"Yep!" Millim flew over to the blue head transformer. "He's my bestie for resties!"

"Huh!? Since when?"

Millim smiled at Rimuru concerning question. "Since after this battle."

You give the blue head a soft smile. "You're quite popular."

The ageless could only reciprocated your actions. "Well.. it just happened." He was silent for a moment before speaking back up once again. "Since when we're you going to tell me you were a demon lord?"

Millim was ahead of the two individuals, giving them a bit of space to talk.

You shrugged your shoulders at his question though, face now molded in disturbance as you thought about it. "Hearing that title... it makes me feel.. uncomfortable." You started, hesitant to continue. "It was a title that was forced onto me... I just.." You paused, but Rimuru stopped you from going on anyway.

"It's totally fine if you don't want to tell me your story." He grabbed a hold of your hand and raised it, now being in view of both of you. "It's all in the past now, right?" He placed your hand back down and unlocked his hand from yours. "I have something of my own to share, too," he was about to speak about his past when Millim came and rushed her arms around his shoulders.

"Bestie! Why are you walking so slow!!"

Rimuru let out a sigh, rather annoyed that he was interrupted.

"Come show me to my new room!"

Later in the night, you sat down on your bed as you eyed the necklace you once had wrapped around your neck, now in your hand.

It was your mother's.

She gave it to you before disappearing from the face of the earth. You always wondered what happened to her. Where was she. You wondered if she was dead, or even in hiding.

You promised yourself you'd journey on an adventure to find her and to hopefully get answers from her–if she's even still alive.

You sighed and placed the necklace back around it's holder, still tightly grasping onto it as if hoping for something to appear–but you know nothing will.

I just want to put out here that this will be the last chapter posted until 2024 (😅). I'm trying to write as much chapters all at once instead of one at a time so this book will most likely be continuing in Feb or Mar. Who knows? it might even be continuing in Jan. Anyways, thank you so much for reading these 9 chapters so far.
