"Will you be joining us today?"

You shook your head. "Not today, or at least not right now. I was planning on walking around to get familiar with the place. I'll probably come visit later."

It was the next morning. Rimuru had told you upon arriving to you guy's shared room that he'd go straight to the kids as soon as the day arrived. You just simply nodded your head as you unpacked your clothes, though.

"And besides, I think it's best that you get to know the children first before I do. Maybe they'll feel comfortable around you since you once knew Shizu." Rimuru only nodded his head as he understood what you meant.

"Perhaps I'll leave Ra—"

"And take Ranga with you, too."

The sun laid comfortable on your back as you stepped foot outside the building. The pink dress you wore moved fiercely due to the wind brushing by.

Your eyes watch the citizens as they strolled by a passing carriages, leaving the driver to yell at the individuals walking to move over.

You let out a quiet laugh, not trying to be heard by anyone, as you made your way down the street. You passed by an old lady who sat behind a stand as she was selling treats that was a bit uncommon to you.

"Hello, dear. Would you like to try one? It's on the house." She started first, startling you just a bit. You paused for a moment and decided to give it a try.

"Thank you, ma'am."

"Oh, no need to thank me," The older woman behind the stand handed you a soft, sweet dough with jelly filling inside. "I'm doing this as an act of kindness."

You cocked your eyebrows as you took the pastry from her hands. "But why?"

The woman shrugged. "You're Melda's child aren't you?"

You stared at her with widen eyes. You wondered who this woman was and how'd she even knew you. How'd she even knew your mother? You stared at the pastry in your hand before handing it back to the old lady.

"I-I'm sorry. I have to go—"

"No need to leave. I've been looking for you, Y/N." You felt a bit of trepidation as the woman spoke. "I heard you were popping by here so I made some arrangements." The woman had a smug look on her face. "Melda would be so happy to see you. To see how much you grown from a child to a fine, young adult."

You narrowed your eyes at her. "How do you know my mummy?

"Does it matter? Would you have come with me if I told you I could take you to her? She's waiting for you as we speak."

You face showed disgust as you decided to ignore the woman. Yet, she had more things to say which brought shivers down your spine. "You can run all you want, Y/N. I got eyes everywhere."

The last thing you wanted to do was stay outside after being threatened by a stranger.

You made your way to your shared room with Rimuru and locked the door as fast as you can. You let in a shaky breath before exhaling.

You wondered why you were acting the way you did. You finally had a clue of where your mother could've been, but you got scared and ran away with your tail tucked between your legs. Or who knows, the woman could've clearly been lying, yet, you didn't stay to know.

You throw yourself on the twin size bed and closed your eyes.

Rimuru pulled out his key and unlocked the door to his room—since both you and Rimuru shared a room, you both had spared keys to it. It was far later in the afternoon since his training with the young kids. Along those times, Benimaru had also called to inform that Carrion wanted to speak with him. He was able to converse with the blond man about Millim's strange behavior, something he'll talk to you about when you've awoken from your slumber. But for now, the blue head took off pieces of his clothing and shoes and, without realizing it, made his way next to you on the bed. His eyes fell heavy as he, too, drifted off into a deep sleep.

I do not know why this took me so long to update 😀.

It's the only motivation to keep me writing them (which is why I haven't updated in a long time 😍). Thank you in advanced. I have other stories in mind. I just gotta finish this and the other two stories lol 😅. Anyways...
