What a beautiful tragic period love story!!! I was such in awe of this show!! To someone like me who loves classic literature, this made me remember Pride and Prejudice, Atonement, and Les Miserables!

Even so, as a Filipino and also, someone whose country was once under Martial Law, the story was just so relatable that I can't help but see through it as a symbolism of what occurred during the turbulent 1980s. I watched Snowdrop before but that story only explored what was going on inside the school but Youth of May was way deeper. It was a good strategy to use two lovers to show the pain of the Gwangju Uprising. What an amazing historical fiction set in the 1980s!

It was painful... Even so, once again, it was an eyeopener for me to appreciate the peace we have.

Without the bravery of those who fought for democracy, the world will definitely be different today....

Thank you to Youth of May for making me look back on my own country's past, too. 💖

My Rating: 10/10

It felt like watching a classic novel

It felt like watching a classic novel. It did feel like a book to me. No matter how sad it was, it was magical to me. I won't change anything in the story. It had so much depth, the message was strong, the plot was well-written, all characters down to supporting actors are all well-rounded, and lastly, the OSTs are amazing!

Hoping to find more stories like this one, soon. I just finished it and it will definitely be on my favorites list. 💖😘

PS: I was also happy to see that Hwang Hui-tae learned to trust God and himself even after everything that happened to him. :)
