Grian's Perspective-

"Grian, I- "

A tree branch nearby snapped, and the two guys jumped.

Grian's eyes widened.

"I need to go." He said quickly.

"What? Why? Did- did someone see us?"

"I don't know, but I think someone did."

Grian squinted as he looked up at the trees.

He then folded out his wings and looked back at Scar.

"I'm sorry, but I think I need to go."

"When can I see you again?"

"I don't know. You can come tomorrow night, but if I don't show, then leave."

Scar nodded and Grian flew off.

He landed back into his home and looked around.

Where are th-

"Grian Gotts."

Grian jumped out of his thoughts and turned around to see both of his mother sitting at their dining room table.

"Oh, h-hi." He said nervously.

"Sit down." She said, motioning to the seat across from her.

Grian did and his mother gave him some bread before sitting across from him and folding her hands on the table.

Grian tore off some of the bread and ate it when his mother asked,

"Who was that man you were talking to?"

Grian almost choked and started coughing.

"What?" He croaked, hitting his chest.

His mother narrowed her eyes.

"That guy who was covered in scars and gave you cookies. Who was that? Why'd you lie to me to go see him?"

"He's just a friend." Grian muttered.

"Your human friend."

Grian winced at the tone she used.

"Yeah? He's a human. What's your point?"

His mother sighed, "Grian, you can't be hanging out with humans. You know this!"

"Wait, were you spying on me?"

Grian's mother flushed red, looking caught.

"I- you weren't flying in the direction of Venus's flower shop, so I was suspicious!"

"Mom! What the heck?"

"That doesn't matter!" She shouted, "What matters is that you're talking to a human."

"Why do you care?! I can live my life however I want! I'm friends with a human! So what?!"

"Well it certainly seems like you're more than friends! He gave you cookies, he's trying to use you and will turn you in and you will get killed. How can you trust him?"

"Because he's my friend. I trust h- "

"How do you know he wasn't poisoning you?!"

"Because I'm still alive, and because he was eating them too!"

"You CAN'T trust him though!"

"How do you know?! You've never spoken to him!"

"IT'S BECAUSE HE'S HUMAN!"

"That- doesn't- matter. He's just like you and me. He has emotions, he can make people laugh, he can make me laugh and smile. Isn't that what you want?"

His mother sighed.

"I want you to be happy, but humans are- "

"Dangerous? Untrustworthy? Mom, that's what they say about us! You're going to get bad people anywhere, mom. There are avians who are untrustworthy, there are humans that are untrustworthy; a lot of us aren't though. Scar is a very kind person."

"But- "

"Mom. Stop."

"...okay," She sighed eventually. "I trust you."

Scar sighed as he got on his bike.

I hope we didn't get caught. I hope it was just a squirrel or something.

Scar put on his helmet and started to pedal off.

It was about a half hour bike ride, and he was already pretty tired.

"Grian, I- I think I like you."

Scar shook his head, embarrassed by what he was going to say.

A part of me wishes I said that, but it would be stupid!! We just met!! I'm being stupid.

Scar sighed.

I just hope he's okay.
