I think this song represents Golden Freddy in OWAR.
He recognizes that he wasn't the best person, and tries WAAAAAY to hard to fix it, getting himself maimed in the process.
He constantly fears he'll go back to how he used to be, and he constantly can't tell who he even is.
But eventually, he does end up becoming a better person with Rosie's help, and even though he may or may not be forgiven, he did this for himself, not others.
