It's not that I don't see the effort
Or the change in your ways
But I'm just anticipating
The day you'll change
For the worst -- Again...
It's not that I don't get
That you sometimes
Genuinely care
But 99.9% of the time
You don't.
It's not that I don't notice
The accommodations
Made so I can be happy
But then again
It shouldn't be as hard.
I'm not ungrateful
Or anything
It's not that I don't notice
Or care
I'm just not use
To getting my way
Or being a bit significant
That when it actually happens
I don't react appropriately.
It's all uncharted territory to me.
