I sat on the steps placing my crutches to the side patiently waiting on her. Aria had fallen asleep earlier despite saying she would wait up with me to surprise her mother, luckily we were in her room when she did since I now lacked the ability to carry her up the stairs.

My gaze moved over to the red bow on the car which complemented the all-black exterior, it had taken me some time to decide on what car to actually get her since I knew if I went with something too expensive there was a high chance she wouldn't take it, in the end, I decided to go with the 2021 Kia Telluride.

I reached into my pocket grabbing my phone deciding to call her to find out how far away she was.

I quickly dialled her number and after a few rings she picked up allowing the call to connect.

"Baby," She called out sounding exhausted and I frowned knowing she had worked double shifts today. With the rape cases rising she had decided on giving more of her time to the hospital, which I admired greatly since it was a completely selfless action with her not getting paid extra to stay back.

I had offered to talk to Jeremiah on her behalf so she could be compensated for the extra hours she worked but she turned down my offer saying she didn't want the extra money.

"How far away are you?"

"I'm getting out of the car right now," She replied, making me frown since I was sitting outside.

"Babe I'm on the steps I don't see you,"

"I'm at the gate, I'm letting Renae keep the car tonight and pick me up tomorrow for work," She explained.

"Not in the mood to drive?" I questioned and she hummed in agreement.

"I just wanna come up, shower and then cuddle," She confessed.

"Okay hurry up, I'm waiting on you,"

"Why are you outside anyway?" She asked confused.

"When I see you I'll tell you," I replied before ending the call knowing she wouldn't stop questioning me if I didn't. A small wave of anxiety and anticipation ran over me as I pushed myself to stand before grabbing my crutches to move over to the car.

My eyes went to her approaching figure and I watched as her pace slowed the moment her eyes met me and the car I stood in front of.

"Jazmine no," She stated firmly, earning a breathy laugh from me.

"What do you mean no?" I asked as she resumed her pace moving closer to me, and I leaned back against the car using it to support my weight as I placed the crutches to the side.

"You can't give me a car Jazmine," She pointed out as if it was common knowledge.

"Why not?" I asked, reaching for her hand and she allowed me to, placing her duffle bag on the floor as she moved into me making sure to avoid my leg.

"How much did this cost?" She questioned glancing at the car for a split second before returning her gaze to me.

"It wasn't a lot,"

"So if I google—"

"Britt," I called out laughing, watching as her gaze moved to the car once more and I could see the conflict in her eyes. "Do you like it?"

"Yes I do but Jazmine it hasn't even been a year since we started dating, this—this is not even a logical decision,"

"Are you planning to leave?" I asked softly, not being able to overlook how beautiful she looked despite her exhaustion as my hands moved to her ass while her eyes met mine.

"No,"

"Neither I am, so let me spoil you," I replied and she paused looking into my eyes.

"How much is it?"

"You could afford it," I told her truthfully, not wanting to say the exact price and she leaned forward resting her forehead against my shoulder. "It's right-handed,"

She released a mini laugh before allowing silence to fall around us letting me know she was drifting into her mind.

"Jazmine," She called out and I hummed softly, the thickness of the silence around us already clueing me into what she was about to say.

"Let me take care of you," I mumbled and she pulled away slightly looking at me, allowing me to gaze as the confliction in her gaze cleared drastically leaving the love and appreciation to be shown.

"Thank you," She voiced softly, pulling a grin from me.

"That's a yes?"

"Yes," She replied softly, resting her head against my shoulder and I released a sigh settling into contentment that began building around us.
