"Sir, I'm getting a report from a rescue team."
"Which one?" said Yannis. He stepped down from his chair to walk the bridge and see for himself.
"From asteroid B4C. It was the last one to arrive. The team that pulled the data as well as the colonists."
"What of it?"
"They say the data is missing. They want to know if it's been transferred to a secure vault beyond their reach."
"Has it?"
"I don't see any record of that request, sir."
"I don't want to lose the first data we pulled from this system, Lieutenant. Find out what happened. When is the follow up team due?"
"Launching now, Captain," said another officer.
"Send a message. Tell them what's happened. Make sure we get another copy of that data. Yannis turned away from the main screen and back to the command dias.
Behind him, the rendered image of the ring and planet received the assimilated probe data, and began to fill in new details.
