Meet Wallflower: A Writer and Translator

Introduction:

Hello, I'm Wallflower, a writer and translator based in Iran. While my real name may remain a mystery, you can call me Wallflower, a moniker that reflects my love for blending into the background while creating vibrant worlds through my writing.

Educational Background:

I started my writing journey in elementary school and became more serious about it in high school. Currently, I'm focused on my novels, including my first work, "The Black Angel," which I fondly cherish despite wanting to make some changes. As for my educational background, I'm a self-proclaimed bookworm from birth, with no formal training in writing—just a passion for storytelling.

Writing Journey:

The decision to write came naturally to me when I realized I could bring my own ideas to life. I'm drawn to LGBTQ+ themes and enjoy infusing elements of Fantasy and Historical genres into my works. My writing style involves weaving twists and turns with a melancholic undertone, blending comedy and pain to showcase my characters' emotions.

Accomplishments:

While I haven't ventured into paperback publishing yet, my digital domain is filled with ideas for more than ten novels, with ongoing projects like "Gay Harem" and the translation of the Korean novel "Winter Field." The best part of this journey is the joy of sharing my work with readers and eliciting emotions through their comments.

Influences:

T.J. Klune, a relatively recent discovery for me, has become an author whose works I've reread countless times. Other influences include authors like Priest, MXTX, and J.K. Rowling, each contributing to my diverse literary palate. Priest, too, is a great individual who helps me get out of my comfort zone since they have a masterpiece in every genre.

Writing Process:

My writing process is motivated by the desire to create something meaningful. Despite having a general idea when starting a novel, my characters often take on a life of their own, leading the story in unexpected but more meaningful directions.

Translation Work:

My venture into translating novels arose from a passion for sharing stories that hadn't yet been translated. It's a fulfilling experience to bridge the gap between languages and introduce readers to new narratives.

Personal Insights:

I aim to evoke emotions in my readers, whether it's happiness or sadness, and provide a sense of belonging between the lines. My overarching message revolves around finding happiness, even in the darkest moments, and recognizing the support and love that surrounds us.

Hobbies and Interests:

Outside of writing and translating, I find solace in reading novels, mangas, manhwas, and manhuas. Balancing this with a diligent study routine keeps my life dynamic.

Future Plans:

After translating "Winter Field" and completing "Gay Harem" Volume Two, I have my sights set on bringing more Korean novels to a wider audience. Additionally, I plan to finish and share several draft novels that have been patiently waiting in the wings.

Nationality and Background: 

I'm currently based in Iran, a country I describe with mixed emotions due to its rich history ruined by the struggles for power that have affected its people. As a pansexual person living in Iran, my personal experiences have added a layer of angst to my novels. Themes like homophobia, power struggles, and societal pressures often find their way into my narratives, providing a platform for self-expression.
