Maxine was sitting on her bed alone and looked at her stomach with a small bump formed already due to the werewolf genes. Jace was out trying to find a job and got one with Deaton, who was happy to take him on.
"Max?" Maxine hears a voice and turns to see Issac standing there." Hey, what's up?" Maxine says softly."Came to check up on you, I wanted to make sure you were okay?" Isaac asks nervously." Come in from the cold," Maxine says softly as she helps him in," Now why are you here?" Maxine says with a look.
"I'm not allowed to say," Isaac says not looking at her." ISAAC LAHEY! You have exactly one second to explain yourself or so help me I will whack your head," Maxine says in a mom's voice. Issac winced at the tone of voice, "Fine Derek is testing Jackson for the Kanima," Isaac admits slowly.
"Take me there now! And I mean now! Is Jace there?" Maxine asked." Yes?" Isaac hesitates in answering." Take me there," Maxine says. Isaac nods and lifts Maxine and they head to the station.
* Isaac leads Maxine inside and sees Jackson on the floor. Maxine checks him over." Max?" Jace says and Maxine stands up and slaps Jace across the face." Ahh, what was that for?" Jace groans.
"For lying to me, and for going behind my back," Maxine says with a look." I'm sorry, Derek just wanted to see if he was the Kanima and he passed the test," Jace says." Of course, he's gonna pass the test dumbassess! He's not the Kanima now!" Max snaps.
"He's Jackson! It's an it or either thing! Try reading about it first before making stupid decisions!" Maxine yells." Isaac help me get him home," Maxine turns around to Isaac who nods and whispers into Jackson’s ear telling him to recant his statement.
"You!" Maxine says pointing at Jace." Are in the doghouse so you're not coming back with me! You can stay here since you like to go and lie behind my back and hide things," Maxine says walking off.
Isaac took Jackson back home, and Maxine headed home with Issac behind her." You're in the doghouse too! So march your butt back to the station," Maxine says." But I want to stay with you," Issac pouts.
"Fine, come on!" Maxine grumbles." I'm too tired for this!" Maxine whines. Jace comes behind Maxine and lifts her."Lasa-ma jos, ticălosule!" Maxine yells."Nu, îmi pare rău prințesă," Jace smugly." Are we still in the dog house?" Isaac asks nervously." Yes! But come on I want to go home," Maxine grumbles.
Jace, Maxine, and Issac get back to Maxine and Maxine lays in bed." You two can sleep on the floor," Maxine says turning over and falling asleep." I can't believe you got us into trouble," Isaac says tapping Jace's chest. Jace returns the tap and they start play fighting.

"Boys! I'm sleeping here, carrying two werewolf babies, and if you don't knock it off right now! I will send you both out that window! Don't test me tonight!" Maxine warns as she sleeps. The pair stopped fighting and got settled on the ground.
"Thank you! Night you stupid bastards," Maxine mutters." Damn, she's mean when pregnant," Jace mutters and a pillow gets thrown at his head." Ow!" Jace groans." Then shut up!" Maxine mutters.
* Maxine wasn't at school due to morning sickness and exhaustion. She received a text message from Jackson saying that Derek and Jace were coming after Lydia next. Jackson called Maxine." Why would I care?" Maxine answers.
"I don't care either she's still got my key and I need it back," Jackson says." What are you calling me for then?" Maxine grumbles." I need you to help me get the key from her," Jackson pleads.
"Jackson I'm not exactly going to be good in a fight if one breaks out," Maxine says softly putting her hand on her bump." Why? Maxwhat's he done to you?" Jackson questions scared for her." I'm pregnant Jackson," Maxine reveals.
"I'm gonna be an uncle?" Jackson asked." Yeah, you and Danny are going to be uncles," Maxine smiles." Congrats sis, listen you rest up, and I'll come see you soon," Jackson says." I love you Jackson Whittemore my brother," Maxine says softly smiling." I love you Maxine Ripley my sister," Jackson says softly before hanging up.
* Maxine was sitting on the bed when the door opened and something came crashing up the stairs and her parents came in." Max run!" Rhea yells getting her gun out as James did. The Kanima came bursting in and attacked James and Rhea who opened fire on the Kanima.
The Kanima saw Maxine but continued its job and it slashed both James and Rhea with its venom before killing." NO!!" Maxine yells getting to her parents' side and looking up at the Kanima who seems to have registered her properly and looks down realising what he has done.
The Kanima bolted it away as Jace, Derek, and Scott came up the stairs. Maxine screamed crying and holding on to her parents." No! No! No!" Maxine pleads with her parents but both are gone.
Jace ran in to see Maxine holding her parents, "Max, prințesă," Jace said softly getting to Maxine's side."My parents are dead! I have no one now," Maxine cries." Shh, you have me, our children," Jace says softly. Derek and Scott entered the room to see Rhea and James Ripley dead." We need to call Noah," Scott says softly.
Maxine shakily got her phone out and called Noah who answered," Max how can I help?" Noah says. Maxine couldn't talk, "Max?" Noah says and Jace takes the phone," Hi sir it's Jace Hale, Maxine has just come home to find her parents' dead throats torn out" Jace tells him.
"Can you come and see if you can get the medical examiner to remove the bodies? As Maxine is visibly upset and is pregnant," Jace informs Noah.
"Yes of course right away, Jace, take her and a few clothes and go home with her. Leave everything else with me," Noah tells him." Yes sir," Jace says handing up. Jace lifts a numb Maxine and they head outside not before Derek and Scott put her parents in a respectful position.
* Jace took Maxine to the station and placed her in a cart." Max?" Jace says gently." Go away," Maxine says softly." Talk to me, Max?" Jace says." And say what?! Huh?! You want me to tell you I sat there like a fucking coward whilst my parents got killed by the fucking Kanima!" Maxine yells.
"Hey calm down! This isn't good for you or the babies," Jace says softly." Fuck off! I watched my parents get murdered in front of me! I felt fucking powerless and frightened! I can't- I can't!" Maxine breaks down and Jace immediately hugs her. " Shh prințesă, I'm here I'm here," Jace says softly.
Maxine lay in Jace's arms that night and Noah called to say Maxine would be able to bury her parents tomorrow and he and the police department will be helping with the service. Jace thanks Noah and the pack agrees to help with the funeral.
