'Remi, I have had to beg for your number, I need your help. I am being targeted. you alone can help me  convince your husband otherwise' a message on Remi's phone read which made her heart jump.

The past two weeks were blissful between her and her husband. Remi felt the words on her tongue but was scared to say it to him. Every thoughtful thing he did, Every kiss he placed on her back made her feelings grow stronger.

He had put on her sandals for her and helped her up. He buttoned the neck of her backless dress for the premiere of a movie they were invited to. Their first public appearance as husband and wife.

At the after party, Tobi would hold her hands under the table. He introduced her to everyone as his wife and briefed her on why their presences was important to his political campaign.

The elections was in two weeks.

He had entwined their arms as they clapped.

Their honeymoon was the best week of Remi's life. They were able to live low like tourists. He wore sunglasses, t shirts, shorts and a baseball cap and she wore dresses, beach hats and sunglasses as they explored Monaco together.

He wouldn't let them stay at the house grandfather gifted her but at his own residence. He pointed out iconic landmarks and took her shopping.

He watched her try on several dresses in private rooms at designer stores. She took several he did not approve of jokingly.

On their first night back in Lagos, they made love in her closet, they laid on the floor head to the other persons shoulder. They turned and faced each other.

'Tomorrow is going to be different' remi wondered aloud. She couldn't express her fear, her desire to remain in the past week they've shared together.

The quiet week, the overwhelming joy in their home between them.

Tobi said nothing, he simply kissed her and they laid in silence till she fell asleep only to wake up in her bed.

She turned to her side to see that it was empty. She rolled away to the other side and looked at the closed window when her phone pinged and the message came in.

She knew it was from him. Chima.

What had he put himself into and what did Tobi have to do with it.

She dropped the phone and closed her eyes back to contemplate what was best for her to do. She fell back asleep and woke up later that afternoon with hopes of finding a message that would read

"Never mind, all sorted. False alarm. Happy married life. I am sorry for betraying you"

But there was nothing. The message board was the way she had left it.

She opened Tobi's message and there was nothing either. She threw her phone to the bed and walked over to her closet to grab her robe. As she passed her dresser she saw a note pinned to the mirror with a stopper.

She opened it slowly and read it. He had thanked her for the past weeks and apologised for having to leave for an emergency meeting with grandfather and some other politicians.

For some reason, remi felt a tiny bit insulted. He wasn't going to be home for the weeks to come and promised to stay in touch.

If he was going for personalised by writing a letter, his words in the note didn't feel like so. It stabbed at what she felt for him and how she thought he felt about her.

It felt shallow, she felt like a mistress that would have to wait till he could sneak away from his wife to see her again.

She tore the note up and took a deep breathe before her phone rang.

It was him.

'Hey' he said into the phone. Remi did not respond, he heard her breathing and continued. 'You must have found my note. I didn't mean it that way. I am not use to us, this is all new to me but I wanted to try and I know i didn't do a good job'

Tobi confessed. He had woke up quickly and was almost out the door all suited up before remembering it wasn't just him anymore. He had her and he needed to let her in.

He asked Sarah to provide him a note and he wrote the first thing that came to his mind. He walked quickly to her room and put it on her dresser before placing a kiss on her head and exiting.

It was half way through his first meeting he began to recount what he had written and for some reason it bugged him. He had sent off the wrong message.

'We will get there' Remi said calmly ' how are the meetings going'

'So far it's going well. Nothing to serious' he said before a gun shot went off  'grandfather has just arrived, I will need to go Remi, I will speak to you soon'

He hung up and she looked around. The house felt empty without him. She didn't want to be in it. without him.

She read messages from her family. They had arrived back in the uk safely and would be expecting her arrival. She and Tobi had enjoyed a weekend off with them in the Bahamas. He had chats with her dad and played games with her brothers. He promised a car for her sister to stop her from being impressed by men who had nothing to offer by the time she arrived the uk.

She typed in a promise to call soon and tuned back in to Chima's message.

She typed in "where are you" then cleared it off  "what did Tobi do" and that felt even worse so she cleared it off

Did she still fear him? Despite how she felt did she still not trust him or still aboard some sort of dislike for him?

The message suddenly opened up a door in Remi's mind that she didn't want to visit.

So Remi ignored him for five more day, she put him behind her mind.

She exchanged pictures of moments with her husband through texts, she lounged around the house and prepped the house for the arrival of their wedding portraits.

She received a call before the end of each night from him to talk about their day. She would fill him in on something she did and he will provide snippets of his day, cutting off chunks of details about the things keeping him away from her.

'I will see you soon' he said at the end of each call

Tobi was counting down the days to seeing her again. He looked at his Lock Screen and he could smell her.

'Tobiloba' grandfather called out calmly as he walked out of the conference room with the Japanese business men. Tobi looked up at him and put his phone away.

He just had to wait a few more days, he thought to himself as he strolled over to the old man.

--------------

'What are you talking about' remi finally typed and sent. A moment later, his text bubbles appeared

'You need to save me remi' he replied

'Why should I trust you' she asked smartly

'Technically, I saved you'

That bastard

'Where are you' she replied before dropping her phone and rushing to a cabinet in her closet.
She opened it to reveal a gun she had kept aside.

Ophelia gift to her, she picked it up carefully.
