!!THIS IS IMPORTANT!!

not really but you'll need to know the terms I'm going to be using in the next chapter :)

I used to be a competitive figure skater so this is pretty legit :))

Also here's some terms you need to know even before you start reading these terms (I stole these from wikipedia):

Inside edge - the of a skate blade facing towards the body

Outside edge - the of a skate blade facing away from the body

Free leg - Also called the free foot. The leg (or foot) that is not on the ice

Skating leg - Also called the skating foot. The foot that is on the ice (or the leg that is supporting the body)

For the ones below, they're very basic to me so I might explain them poorly 😅
Also, the ones below aren't jumps or spins, just the fundamentals :)

Stroking - I know what you're thinking, like someone's stroking their dog– but it's not that. Stroking means pushing yourself forward with one foot in the air and one foot on the ice (called your skating leg)

Pumps - I can't explain this .-. when I was very little (6 y.o.) my coach told me you're basically making half lemons with one foot while going straight

Crossovers - Hot cross buns? No, just another ice skating term :) Start with a stroke and then cross your free leg over your skating leg. Once your free leg is back on the ice, the skating leg will push back, causing it to be the free leg. Okay, this is getting too complicated, how about I show you a video instead?

Backward crossovers -  I'm going to show you another video :))

Forward Outside 3-turn - This is done on the outside edge,  when you turn towards the circle, turning backwards. When you do this, you make a shape that looks like a three. (hence the name 3-turn.) (I'm also probably going to use the term "turn" instead of "3-turn" just because it's more fluid in writing :>)

Forward Inside 3-turn - Like a forward outside 3-turn except on the inside edge

Backward Outside 3-turn - Again, this is done on an outside edge, except you're going backwards. You turn away from the circle (forming a 3) and then turn forwards
