The next morning I wake up to the sound of screaming.
I hear constant yells and bellows.
What's going on?

"SOMEBODY STOP HIM!" A voice yells out.

Suddenly my door is yanked open by Daniel, a patient I've seen a couple of times in the hallways and in group therapy.

"RUN. RUN JENETTE! I AM FREEING EVERYONE! RUN!!" He orders me.

I bolt upright and I listen to his commands. This could be what I'm waiting for. My opportunity to escape.

"NOT SO FAST DANNY BOY" Scott, a security guard yells out.

"STOP RIGHT THERE DANIEL OR ELSE I WILL SHOOT YOU!" He warns.

My eyes dart around to find not only me, but about 20 more patients out of their rooms.

"NEVER!" He laughs while zooming past several guards.

The door was right there. He's about to walk out of here. Freedom was so close.
But nothing ever goes the way you want it to. Especially in this place.
Daniel was shot and killed. Nobody would miss him. I don't mean to say that to sound rude. I'm sure someone here will miss him but on the outside world the people here are not appreciated we don't contribute to society. We have no use.
I mean we're insane aren't we?

"EVERYONE BACK TO YOUR ROOMS OR YOU END UP JUST LIKE HIM"

Time for group therapy. So, I was dragged by some man that works here and this time I actually saw the twins (I had skipped breakfast and lunch).

"HELLO EVERYONE" Doctor Theresa greets us.

"Hello Theresa" some of the patients say.

Doctor Theresa likes it if we address her with her first name because we're all 'family' here.
Let's just say...I've never called her Theresa.
Why should I?
We are NOT family.

"So today we'll be talking about the events that have happened this morning" Doctor Theresa announces referring to a patients' attempt at running away (and helping others too)
"We can all say what we think about this whole incident"

She's talking about it like it was an accident. It wasn't. They killed him. I saw his dead body. It was terrible.

"I think he knew he was going to fail" Edward, (a guy that thinks he's a vampire for some fucking reason) says.

"Yea! I mean how can anyone get out of this hell ho-I mean this medical center" Britney adds.

Murmurs of agreements spread around the room and I frown.

"I highly doubt that nobody can escape this hole in a wall" I shrug.

"Oh so YOU can get out of here?" Edward challenges.

"Maybe not me, but I sure think SOMEONE can" I grin.

Surely someone can? I might end up dead when I try but is that a bad thing? I want to leave this place and if I die trying then so be it.

"Sometimes the people that look the least capable of something, are in fact the most capable" Someone speaks up.
I look across me to find Luke staring right at me. He had said the sentence.

"HA! Like Jenette can actually do shit. She's too wrapped up in her own crazy thoughts to actually plan an escape" A boy remarks.

"Oh fuck off Steven, you aren't better than any of us. Rumor has it you talk to yourself, cry yourself to sleep, and have a stuffed animal your parents gave you to cuddle with every night" Maura defends.
