"Santi, it hurts."
"Santi..."
"Santi!"
"I'm going to hold you to that, Santi."
"Goodbye Santi."
If there was anything I hated more, it was liars.
I never understood people who lied. Why is it so hard to tell the fucking truth? You might think you're protecting someone by covering up the truth but lies hurt even more.
Ever since I met her, I've been strangely drawn to her. And after last night, my infatuation for her grew even more.
She was drunk and under the influence when the enchantress in her came in full bloom. She said she forgot and that she didn't remember.
"Goodbye Santi."
She lied. She would never have thought to call me Santi if she didn't remember last night.
She lied. She lied to me about last night. She remembers. She remembers everything.
"What's got your panties in a twist?" Julian asks. I look up and realize everyone is looking at me.
"Nothing," I gruff.
"You say that, but the vein about to pop in your forehead says something else," Nathan says, pointing to the vein. I smacked his hand away.
"Where's your assistant?" Aidan asks, and I grit my teeth. "I need a cup of coffee."
"That's what your fucking assistant is for," I spat.
"Yeah, but Camille hates getting me coffee."
"Well, then maybe you should get another assistant." I slam a hand on my desk, and it startles everyone. Everyone except Aidan. He gives me a deadpan look that sends chills down my spine and makes me scooch back in my seat.
Aidan looks like a standard nice guy, but he gives people this look when he's annoyed or angry. It's like his soul disappears and he's thinking of a million ways to take you out.
"Cami's been with me for a long time," Aidan says calmly. "Unlike you, I don't fuck my assistants and then fire them. Maybe that's why Leilani's not here. I saw you take her with you at the party last night."
"No way," Ethan says, turning to me. "She's been here for like a month and she's better than your last assistants. She even listens to me talk about my girlfriend."
"Wait, you have a girlfriend?" Julian says.
"He's referring to Micah," Nathanial says, rubbing his temple. "She doesn't even know he exists."
