I wake up with a smile on my face. I immediately froze and wondered if I had died in the middle of the night.

I've never been one to be too chipper in the morning. I hated waking up in the mornings. It would disturb me from the dreams I've had about how life would've been different if my mamá and my papá had actually had a healthy marriage.

But every time my dreams reach the climax of family dinner on the third day, it cuts to my mamá and her loud cries as she begs papá to stop. The silence as I watched the noose tighten around her neck.

Last night with Leilani felt like a breath of fresh air. It felt like the stories mamá used to tell us about when she met papá. How much of a ladies' man he just to be before he met our mother and knew immediately, she was the one for him.

I used to think that what they had was amazing. That that was what I wanted for my one true love. But what my parents had wasn't love.

I hear multiple knocks on my door, and I already know that it's the boyband posse. I groan out of annoyance and get out of bed. I open the door and low and behold Aidan, Julian, and Ethan are at my door.

"We texted you last night," Ethan says. "Aidan was having drinks in his room."

"I didn't have time for your girl's night," I said, rolling my eyes. "I had more important matters to attend to."

"Camille was telling me that she was going out, and she mentioned Leilani couldn't come with her because she was out," Aidan inquires.

"She told you or you eavesdropped?" I grit.

"On the contrary, Camille tells me many things whether I want to hear them or not," Aidan says, surveying my room. His eyes scan my bed. "Only one side has been slept on."

"Because only one fucking person was sleeping in here," I yell. "Me."

"What are you getting at, A?" Ethan asks.

"It's not rocket science, Ethan," Julian says. "Leilani wasn't with Camille last night and Santiago disappeared. They were probably together."

Realization dawns on Ethan's face and I sigh. "Don't say anyth-" A knock sounds on the door and everyone turns to look at me.

I go to open the door and I see Leilani standing there in a red, short romper and a jean jacket. Her long legs look delectable in this outfit.

"Hey Santi-Mr. Alvaro," she says, when she sees the clowns standing behind me. "I can come bac-"

"Wait, no! Airplane girl, come in," Julian says, grabbing her arm and dragging her in.

"I really wish you would just call me Leilani, Mr. Hartford," Leilani says. She looks awkward, standing in the middle of all of us.
