Stillness.

The trees speak to the evening world

Using the voices of chirping crickets,

“Autumn is here!”

An early rising Great Horned owl gives

A calm hoot-hoot! though the sun

Has not fully set, and the sparrows

Run their final errands before the day is done.

Above the tallest trees a vast canvas

Of a dull cotton blue slowly shades

Itself darker and darker.

And a bird of some type cackles

Joyfully as day turns to night,

And a cool chill blankets

The land to mark a

Changing season.
