Tightrope Walker

Carefully, she walks out.

Security behind her,

Nothing to confine her now.

It's time to pay the price, dear.

This is what you wanted,

Ready, set, go!

Confident, she steps up.

City streets below her,

Too late to turn back now.

Laughter chimes in loudly.

What will happen next?

They know what happens next.

Scared, she takes the next step.

Burning sun above her,

What is left to do now?

Why are they still laughing?

They're shaking up the rope,

Yes, they're shaking the rope.

Betrayed, she slips and falls down.

World is spinning 'round her,

Clinging for her life now.

They knew that this was coming.

It was all a set-up,

Now she's doomed for the worst.

Giving up, she lets go.

Feels like she's flying,

Free to live her life now.

Leaving evil hearts behind,

Never will turn back again,

Don't  need to please the crowd.

A/N: I suppose this is one of my more stereotypical teenage issues sort of poems, hahaha. I got a random surge of confidence and decided to write this. Woohoo for self-confidence!
