After everything Gabriel had done, she found it hard to believe him when he told her, "I love you."
"Why should I believe you now, Gabriel? You had every opportunity to give up, to be with me, especially after I told you how I feel. I don't know when you're telling the truth anymore."
"What can I do to prove it to you?"
"Have you truly moved on from Emilie?"
He gave a nod. "I'll always love her, but I won't let that stop me from moving on with my life. With Adrien. And with you, I hope."
An idea came to her mind. Maybe not the best one, and definitely not one she would normally think of, but it might help make things clearer. "Kiss me," she said, "and I'll believe you."
If Gabriel refused, she'd know he was lying.
Instead, he smiled. It was a sweet smile and she found it contagious. "Is that all?"
He cupped her cheeks and followed her request. The kiss made her smile widen and alleviated any remaining doubts she had.
