As soon as he gave up being Hawk Moth, Gabriel changed. Though he spent time mourning Emilie, a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. He started doing things with his son and going into public. He smiled more and he joked around. He was finally able to move beyond the past.
Despite all of this, Nathalie hadn't found the courage to tell him how she felt, even with Adrien's not-so-subtle efforts to convince her. Maybe his friends had started to rub off on him.
"Nathalie, can you tell me what you think about this design?" Gabriel asked one morning.
She moved next to him. "It's wonderful, Gabriel, and very different from your usual work. You've changed."
He smiled brightly. "Change is a good thing sometimes, don't you think?"
She hummed in agreement, even though they'd both learned that the hard way.
"Oh, one more thing. How would you feel about going to dinner tonight?"
"That sounds lovely. I'll let Adrien know."
"Actually," he paused, "this time, I was hoping it would just be the two of us." He gestured awkwardly between them.
"Just you and me?" She felt her cheeks flush.
"If you don't want to, I-"
"I would love to, Gabriel."
