AJ groaned once more as she received another blow from the older dark-haired widow,Victoria, who had been assigned as one of her mentors here at the Red Room, it was quite the surprising revelation that someone who was so friendly looking seemed to be one of the best Widows here, not just in looks, but in pure and raw ability as well.

"AJ come on you're not
even trying"

Vic was right, AJ wasn't trying.
She hadn't been trying in training for the last 2 days, she didn't owe these people nothing, so why should she put in the effort.
All she wanted was her mom,her dad, her sister and the rest of her family. Yet she had wound up here.

"I am"
AJ whined.

And Vic rolled her eyes,
"No you're not. I've read your
file, at hydra you were rated a
9/10 for combat so it's either it
was rigged and you paid someone off
or your being lazy now"

"9/10? Oooo what else did they rate me in,
10/10 for looks and humor for sure"

"6/10 for control of all powers, 10/10 with fire arms, 9/10 with knives ,8/10 with tech,
10/10 Compliance" Victoria told the girl,
She had memorized it, she needed the information to know what to work on with Aj. "It's seems the Avengers have made you sloppy, I don't think this is what hydra would expect from their golden child" Victoria taunted.

AJs head snapped up at the name. She hadn't heard that one in a while and she didn't want to. The nickname made her feel uneasy.

"Don't call me that" she snarled as she narrowed her eyes at Victoria.

"But that was you wasn't it?
Ava-Jay Hydras golden child?
they gave you everything and
threw it all in their face"

"They gave me nothing!
They took everything from
me"Aj raised her voice slightly.

"They gave you sufficient training,
they gave you a place to live,
they gave you powers. And you
mean to tell me, they gave you nothing?
Wow you really are an ungrateful, spoilt
brat. All that time with the Avengers has gotten to your head kid. They're all phonies
they are corrupted individuals, thank god we got you away from the place when we did"

"Shut up! Don't talk about my family like that" The girl snapped.

"They're not your family AJ.
Steve Rogers isn't your dad and
Natasha Romanoff was never
your mother, she was never cut out
to be. She's a terrible person and she
most definitely shouldn't have kids"
Victoria spoke bitterly.

"YOU SHUT UP RIGHT NOW" AJ yelled as she threw a powerful and rather explosive punch at the stomach of Victoria.

There was so much anger and rage behind the punch, she wasn't going to let anyone talk bad about her parents. Victoria toppled over slightly from the sheer force of the blow and a small groan escaped her lips before she stood up and smirked at the girl.
She had just figured the kid out, AJs source for this place was her anger. Her anger was how she was going to survive.

"That's more like it kid"

Aj furrowed her eyebrows at Vic,
Why wasn't she hitting her back like they would at Hydra. Vic sighed as she walked over to one of the benches, she patted the spot beside her and Aj reluctantly walked over and sat beside her.

"Look Aj I'm not gonna lie to you
surviving this place is hard. If you
do not cooperate they won't hesitate
to kill you. I'm not here to the be the bad
guy I'm here to guide you. The widows have
each others back, there's only a hand full of us left, the rest were killed of for not being strong enough"

"I just want to go home Vic"

"I know you do but that's not
going to happen" Vic told her truthfully.

Even if the Avengers looked for the girls they'd have no chance finding them, nobody knew where the red room was located not even the widows, they were sedated on entrance and exit.

The two were instantly alerted onto the sound of the door unlocking, with both of them turning their heads towards the exit door, Aj immediately recognizing the blonde-haired widow that had been the one to take her and sister to this place, but she did not seem to recognize the darker haired widow that had come in with her.

"Where's my sister?"
AJ demanded to know as
she looked at the blonde.

"She's in a different wing"
Yelena told her.

"Can I see her?"

"Not yet" The other girl told her.

"AJ this is Yelena and Lyza"
Vic introduced them.

Lyza gave the girl a small smile but Yelena wouldn't even look at the girl.

"He wants to see her"
Yelena told Victoria.

AJ assumed she was talking about Dreykov.
She wanted to see him, she had a lot of pent up anger towards the man and wanted to give him a piece of her mind.

"no, no, no" Vic said dismissively
as she shook her head.

"Vic your job is to train the kid
not get attached. He wants to see
her so we bring her to him. We follow
our orders just like it's always been"
Yelena told her fellow widow.

Vic knew the girl was right, she shouldn't get attached and care for the kid but she already did. She let out a shaky breathe before turning to look at Aj, she crouched down so she was the girl's height.

"Remember what I told you about cooperating Aj. You've got a big mouth
you keep it shut, I mean it" Vic warned.

"But I-"

"Whatever anger you feel you keep
it in. You don't disrespect him, you don't
shout at him. You let him speak. Understood" Vic said assertively cutting Aj off.

"Fine" Aj grumbled.

"Good, I'll see you later okay"
Victoria smiled and Aj nodded.

AJ followed Yelena out of the room, and then walked alongside the older widow in silent fashion without uttering a single word to her. They walked for a couple of minutes until Yelena suddenly stopped at a door and knocked upon it.

"Yelena how you doing?"
A voice asked as the door
opened.

The voice struck Aj through to her very core, as her heart instantly began to race, her body freezing and locking in place, and her mind racing and darting about, the voice was familiar to her, but she was quite sure that there was absolutely no way that he could have been here. Perhaps it was someone that simply sounded a lot like him.
For her sake she hoped that was true....
