Chapter 32

As Ava was forced to face this terrible reality, she couldn't move, locked in a stare of frozen silence with the familiar man before her. The stuff she had to endure because of him in the past was horrific, she had been so grateful to get rid of him but now he was back. Her father was back.

"It's a been a while darling, how have you been?" Jonah asked smiling sickly.

AJ couldn't speak, she just stared at the man as if she had seen a ghost.

"What nothing to say to
your dear old dad?" he chuckled humorously.

AJ shrugged, she knew if she spoke her voice would give away her fear.

"Not even an apology?"
he asked amused. "You tried to replace me huh? With Captain America" Jonah chuckled.

"He's my Dad not you"
AJ snapped.

The cruel and twisted Man would not be able to tolerate such disrespect from his daughter. He had been the reason she had her powers she should be thanking him not resenting him. He grabbed her and dragged her onto one of the tables,her limbs being strapped down tightly and firmly. He smirked as he whipped a rather large needle out of his pocket.

"Wake up with a better attitude sweetheart"
he mumbled as he stuck the needle
into her neck.

AJ tried to fight of the tiredness but she couldn't. Her eye lids became heavy and her breathing labored. She shut her eyes.

"Another dead end" Tony raised his voice as his hand slammed down onto the table.

He had been none stop searching for his nieces but every lead he got ended up leading to nothing.

"Honey it's okay. We'll find them"
Pepper spoke softly as she forced
him to sit down. "You need some sleep
Tony, you haven't slept in 3 days"

"Maybe because my nieces are missing!" He snapped, he didn't mean to. He sighed, "sorry I didn't-"

"It's okay Tonnes you're worried
and your scared I get it. We all
are but if you don't get any sleep
You're not going to find the girls.
An hour that's all I ask"

Tony nodded, he needed a bit of sleep, his brain needed to be functioning properly if he had any chance finding them.

Steve walked back into the entranceway of the compound, with an expression of deep misery and pain set upon his face. He was accompanied by Bucky, who was also distraught and pained from this terrible situation, but he was trying to contain his emotional anguish and stay strong for Steve.

The pair were exhausted, they had been out searching for the girls non stop since they went missing 72 hours ago but they had no luck. Steve's heart was breaking, he just wanted his daughters to be safe, the not knowing was driving him insane.

"I'm gonna go shower and then we can head down to Tony and see if he's got any new leads" Bucky gave Steves shoulder a comforting squeeze as he passed him and headed towards the stairs.

Steve headed up to his and Nats shared room, he needed to shower too. When he entered the room he expected to find his girlfriend but she wasn't there. Steve immediately searched their whole floor for her, his heart filled with deep and tremendous amounts of panic and worry as he feared the worse.

She wasn't in their kitchen or their living room, he even checked the girls bedrooms.
She wasn't there.

Steve seemed to be truly distraught and in deep amounts of panic, his heart was racing at a thousand miles per hour, as he fell down to the floor and began to grasp at his chest as he struggled to breath, the walls felt like they were closing in around him.
He was in his own head, he hadn't even heard the elevator ding and someone walk into the room.

"Steve hey, you okay?Can you hear me?" Nat spoke gently as she crouched beside her boyfriend.

"N..Nat?" He stuttered.

"I'm here, follow my breathing"
She told him as she directed him into
getting his breathing back to normal.

3 minutes later, Nat had managed to calm Steve down. She gently combed her fingers through his hair and she looked at him with worried eyes. She had never seen him like this before.

"What happened?"

"I couldn't find you anywhere, I thought they'd got you too" Steve sobbed.

That was breaking point for Natasha, hearing the man she loved sob because he thought she was missing made her cry too. It had been 3 days and Steve already had ptsd from their daughters being taken. She realized that Steve hadn't really properly felt or processed the disappearance of their daughters, he'd been too busy searching but keeping it all bottled in wasn't doing him any good.

"I'm here, I'm here I promise.
I've got you, I'm not going anywhere"
She reassured him as she pulled him
into a hug."We're gonna find them Steve"
