me and lysseilia were in the process of sparing, lysseilia flat out refused to let me use my new blade for our spars, which while disappoint was understandable it carried a majority of my power, still i could train with my spear with her, as she was still willing to let me use that
"your rather skilled with that spear" andrea said as she walked in, in civilian cloths
"thank you, it's been my primary weapon for the past year" i said
"it has served us well, in several engagements" lysseilia said, i nodded
"i see, what of your sword skills, it seems that blade is more powerful then a spear" andrea said
"his sword has taken more kills then i have, this past year" lysseilia said, her eyebrow raised
"you must skilled then" she said
"i am two levels from what my people would call master rank unofficially" i said
"would you mind a friendly spar then" she asked
"i would not" i said, lysseilia handed her mother her saber, which andrea took, taking a couple practice swings as i drew my ceremonial blade, reabsorbing my spear
"as the challenger you may make the first move" i said
"what a gentleman" she said as they circled each other then without warning she struck
she had spent years with a sword in her hand, and was known throughout the nation as one of the best swordsmistresses out there yet she was being met blow for blow, in what was by far the hardest sword fight she had ever been apart of, and her opponent didn't seem to even be breaking a sweat, she was shocked that he was able to disarm her, stunned speechless
"i need to check on my ship, if you two will excuse me" i said sheathing my sword, before giving a bow, and leaving the training room, leaving the stunned admiral
"impressed yet" lysseilia asked, a knowing smile gracing her lips, she had no words
"there are several reasons i want him as my rider, you have just experienced first hand, two of them" lysseilia said
"two of them" she asked
"his skill, in battle at the fact it hasn't even been twenty-four hours and he is worried for the thanatos, the crew of the thanatos started referring to him as your excellency, by the first month of services end, the garrison of cirteska, call him similarly within two weeks, the man didn't even know the tradition, he was quite shocked when the garrison called him such for the first time, he tired to get the thanatos crew to stop, he hasn't succeeded, he is a quiet individual but when he speaks we all listen, that is the kind of commander he is, he turned down a promotion from marshal wade saying he didn't have enough experience yet, i can continue to explain about the man all day, as a rider, as an officer, as a man he is one i am honored to serve" lysseilia said proudly
"i see" andrea said she thought for a moment
"then maybe we should force his hand" andrea said
"mother, don't do anything desperate it will only blow up in our faces" lysseilia said
"come now, he would make the sensible decision he must" andrea said
a week passed and lysseilia could tell her mother was planning something, one day while fuyuhito was in his ready-room aboard the thanatos going over a standard report, which he insisted on doing aboard his ship, when the red alert sirens began blaring
"captain to the bridge" the intercoms went off, putting down the datapad i made my way immediately to the bridge
"report" i said
"thirty pteradons have just been sighted entering the system" the watch officer said
"lieutenant lysseilia" i asked, he paused for a moment, he smiled as he waited a few minutes
"she is aboard" the officer said
"helm take us out one-half impulse plot our course for those pteradons, best speed" i said
"aye sir, the CC-647: destiny has just launched that's the admiral's personal flagship, she is directly behind us, the garrison fleet is close behind" the officer reported
"the garrison fleet is only ten ships we are outnumbered three to one" lysseilia said walking briskly onto the bridge as she took her station
"well then, i guess it's time we break a few things" i said
"aye sir, all hands to battle stations set condition-one throughout the ship" she said
five minutes later they engaged the enemy, they spent the next four hours fighting against the enemy, as fuyuhito was barking orders, and lysseilia was similarly barking orders to other officers on the bridge the two working in tandem
"sir the destiny is taking heavy damage, the enemy is charging their main gun, if the destiny takes that hit their done for" the tactical officer said
"get us in front of the destiny, all hands this is the captain brace for impact" i said, as i projected my AT-field to protect the ship, my hand tightly holding unit-01, drawing upon it's power, despite the power i put into the AT-field the barrier shattered and the thanatos took crippling damage, i crawled back onto my feet having been thrown from my command chair, as i was coughing from the smoke and fire
"damage report" i ordered
"numerous hull breaches........ shit they hit the core, it's gonna blow" the officer said, my eyes widened
"ALL HANDS ABANDON SHIP, get me internal comms take whatever you have to offline" i said
"one minute captain, i took the laevateinns and mjolnir's offline, we have comms" the officer said
"all hands this is the captain, abandon ship, i repeat abandon ship, this is not a drill, abandon ship" i said
i grabbed the wounded lysseilia and lifted her up into a princess carry, as she was unconscious
"i'll take her sir" the watch officer said, i nodded handing her to him
"let's go" i said, he nodded as he left the bridge i helped the others off the bridge before placing the ship on auto and having it set a course to collide into an enemy pteradon, before taking a last look at the bridge i left
"lady lysseilia was on the first prowler out, we are the last group sir" the watch officer said, i nodded
"good man" i said, as the prowler landed and we boarded and made our way to the bridge
"she was a good ship" i said
"aye sir, she was, it was an honor and a privilege to serve on her sir, that is the second battlecruiser our lowly frigate managed to save" the officer said, i nodded
"indeed" i said
"sir enemy pteradons are in full retreat, the admiral is incapacitated, the garrison fleet is giving you the choice on what to do, since it was your actions that saved the admiral's life" the commanding officer of the prowler said
"let them go, inform the fleet to head back to phirona, there has been enough bloodshed today, and we have wounded" i said
"aye sir, orders set and received the fleet is complying" the comms officer said
