CHAPTER 17

"sir we are getting a distress call" collins said

"from" i asked

"the planet ghunis, it's being named a lost cause and being evacuated, the distress call is coming from major lysseilia fairmont" collins said

"plotting course for ghunis, maximum speed, your excellency" the helmsman said, already anticipating her captain's orders

"initiate" i ordered

"all hands set condition-one throughout the ship, battle stations" collins ordered, as the saxons began blaring

"sir we have all craft prepped for launch" collins said

"there are another eighteen battlecruisers and four battleships in orbit, they have sent us orders to aid in evacuation procedures" the comms officer said

"noted, you have the bridge Mr. collins" i said, as i summoned my sword

"aye sir, good luck captain" he said, i nodded, as i left the bridge

i soon boarded a prowler and was away from the leonidas and towards the surface, this particular prowler was housed the rescue party of major fairmont, encompassing the best of my forces, she was one of us after all

once the prowler landed a squad of five remained to protect it, the rest of us scattered to help who we could throughout the city, directing them to the prowler as we found them, i found lysseilia attempting to protect a group of civvies she and they were surrounded by a large number of walkers, and she was growling defensively, it was clear she was exhausted however, my hand gripped the hilt of my blade, as my left hand gripped the sheath pulling the trigger as the blade shot out, and i activated my power, creating a mashing slash arc of red energy at the enemy walkers cutting through a third of them, and gaining the attention of the rest as well as lysseilia who sighed with relief at seeing, me i nodded to her before returning my attention to the walkers, i would be seriously putting my plugsuit to the test on how much it could take

as i charged at the walkers sword in hand i began to cut through the walkers one by one, until none were left, lysseilia reverted to her human form

"thank you" she said

"your one of mine, weather you are still under my command or not does not matter, i will protect my subordinates, let's get these civvies out of here" i said

"the last prowler left three hours ago" she said

"i will not repeat myself major" i said

"my apologies captain, i was merely confused" she said, she missed him, and the confidence he held it what he was talking about

he led the group, dealing with walkers along the way to a waiting prowler

"sir, this is the last group we can take we are already pushing it" the officer said

"send another prowler down then" i ordered

"it's already on it's way sir, i should inform you many of our allied ships have pulled out, chock full of civvies, there are three battlecruisers left in orbit, counting us" the officer said

"thank you sergeant, and how are we" i asked

"we can handle another two runs more sir, the CC-647: destiny, has also just arrived to render aid, i believe the main reason she is here is for her daughter however" the sergeant said

"the main reason we are here is for the major" i said with a scoff, as i boarded the prowler, to take us back to the ship, as we approached the leonidas hailed

"this is the leonidas air traffic control, you are clear to approach, welcome back captain" lieutenant collins said

"that's collins" lysseilia said recognizing the voice

"he's my watch officer, my first stop was cirteska i spent all of two days there before being transferred to vyrens where i worked as garrison commander for that city, that earned me a promotion, and the task of garrison commander for the entire planet of tyrnus, which earned me this ship, command liked the idea of me potentially saving battleships" i said

"i'm sure they did" lysseilia said, as we landed on the leonidas

"as soon as i get a free ship, i'll send you over to the destiny" i said

"sir, i am a member of this crew you said so yourself, i would much prefer to remain onboard in whatever capacity you need of me" lysseilia said, i gave her a look

"your family has named me their enemy" i said

"i could care less" lysseilia said

"yes, i have learned that about you, permission granted major, welcome aboard the leonidas" i said

"thank you sir, it's good to be back" she said, as she followed me to the bridge, where the entire bridge crew celebrated her return

"yes, yes, our XO has returned, settle down now, we still have work to do, you can celebrate when we return to tyrnus" i said, as the crew listened to their captain and returned to their stations

we spent another two hours picking up as many as we can, lysseilia had sent a message to her mother aboard the destiny informing her that she was safe aboard a battlecruiser that had left the battlefield, i watched as the destiny still stuck around to rescue civilians it was in fact the last ship to depart soon after our own ship, which made sense as it was the last ship to arrive

"how many did we save, Mr. collins" i asked

"ninety-four percent of the populace sir, the only ones that remained were the stubborn ones, marshal constance has already prepared facilities for our refugees" collins said, i nodded

"good, i have been ordered to contact the good admiral upon our arrival to confirm i am well" lysseilia said

"an admiral abusing her power, to be a mother bear, what a surprise" i said with a chuckle, as lysseilia gave a mock-punch to my shoulder, she was glad to be back aboard his ship again
