all of them, all three pilots, and maya ibuki were dragons, they were given basic training then were shipped off to fuyuhito's command, he was already getting requests from lower ranking officers to claim them, it was fortunate that they were his responsibility, but if higher ranking officers chose to claim them

he needed to have them tested so he did so

maya ibuki wasn't anything special thankfully, her mystic art, allowed her to compute knowledge twice as fast as a standard human, useful, but most if not all of the higher ranking officers will ignore her, as it isn't really a combat related ability, and those that would find her ability intriguing would have to go through him first

rei ayanami, however was a different story, she could summon an unlimited supply of evangelions, more specifically, mass production units, that misato said were used by SEELE, in an attempt to take over NERV, they faced off against gendo's nemesis series what devolved into a three way war, the EVAs were smaller then standard being roughly the same size as her dragon form which was barely big enough to carry a rider, but she was resilient and she was fast, she was also obedient, this would prove to be extremely problematic, as protecting her without outright claiming her would be impossible

then there was asuka, she could be described in a single word, berserker, her mystic art set her into a berserk like state similarly to her EVA beast mode, but it she lost all control of herself as a result, and it put an extreme strain on her body, that and she was the opposite of rei, she would need to be forced to follow orders most of the time, do to her pride

then there was mari makinami, mari's ability was the simplest of the three and perhaps the most terrifying, she could feast on her enemies and doing so allowed her to regenerate any wounds she may receive, even lost limbs could be regenerated by feasting, she was also quite obedient like rei, happy to follow the orders of her rider

all four stood in the ready room aboard the leonidas while, fuyuhito looked over a report, before placing it down and looking up

"well, you idiots have gotten yourself stuck between a rock and a hard place, so i'm going to ask you, what you hope your futures to be, miss ibuki you may start" i said

"i hope to join this crew and be of service to you, sir, i would not say no, if you asked to claim me" maya said

"you fortunately have a back door, as i can sponsor Dr. akagi, to allow her to claim you if you wish" i said, her eyes sparkled at hearing that

"i'll put together my recommendation to the marshal, it will then be your job to convince her" i said

"thank you sir" she said

"dismissed" i said, as she left i looked at the three pilots misato was in the room looking at the them worriedly

"i'm gonna be honest, maya ibuki would have likely been able to get away with staying free for the rest of her life, you three are not so fortunate, i know for a fact two of you, will be rather easy to deal with, as neither rei nor mari cares, mari only wants to be able to continue to fight and use her power, and rei straight up doesn't care, what am i going to do with you asuka" i said

"what do you mean, you'll claim me obviously" asuka said, my eyebrow raised

"you...... want me to claim you, you do understand what that means right, they did teach you, what it means" i said

"of course, but i would only bend the knee to a fellow pilot, of course i'd prefer not to do so at all, but i am well aware of my situation, i knew the risks involved when i came after you" asuka said, i blinked, misato stared at asuka in shock, neither of us expected this outcome

"you do understand i am not an exception to the rule, right, i will do my duty, but i will expect you to do yours in turn" i said

"i figured that out when you stole unit-01 back" asuka said

"well then it seems i have something to think about, your dismissed" i said, as soon as they were gone i turned to misato

"now what is it you want" i asked
