lysseilia had started to train misato, in her new duties aboard the leonidas, taking misato off of lieutenant collins, misato had asked where her pilots were taken, and lysseilia explained it to her

"will there be anyone who will want to take them" misato asked

"besides fuyuhito, that doesn't want to abuse them, probably not, our nation doesn't look upon outsiders well, fuyuhito has served this nations military since his arrival four years ago, literally a half an hour after he arrived he was thrown into our conflict, and has fought for us since, his actions in aiding the evacuation of the planet ghunis, combined with his aid in the defense of the city of vyrens, of the planet tyrnus, combined with his penchant for saving battlecruisers with high ranking officers on board, and he has wormed his way into the good graces of our nation, but he is only now starting to be accepted by more then just his crew" lysseilia said

"you seem to know alot about him" misato said

"i have served with him, for two of those four years, as his executive officer, his first year here i served as his dragon as well" lysseilia said

"your a dragon too, but your a major" misato said

"being a dragon doesn't impede your ability to advance in our military, unless you have already been claimed, by which point your accomplishments belong to your master" lysseilia said

"and yet, dragons look to be claimed, it sounds like slavery" misato said

"more like indentured servitude, but yes, we choose our masters, and the bond, if you find a good master, can be a wonderful and beautiful thing, this is how things have been done for centuries, and you will not find a single dragon besides yours, who will complain, even those who are poorly cared for, still prefer the system for how it is then how it could be, it's an instinctual thing, your girls will soon long for riders just as i long for mine" lysseilia said

"fuyuhito" misato said, lysseilia nodded

"does he know" misato asked

"six months after we met i broached the subject with him, i have been trying to get him to agree to claim me since, and ironically, it's your pilots that might force his hand" lysseilia said

"what do you mean" misato asked

"by bonding with me his name will be put to the top of the list for status elevation, to at least the marquis level, this matters because at that level, he can claim every single dragon among your pilots if necessary, he can protect them politically, using his noble title, and his military rank, and if they are his it is full proof because an attack on them is an attack on him, we don't just swear ourselves to masters, we get things out of the deal as well, protection mostly, and a home to call our own, you cannot say this ship doesn't feel like home, any ship under his command does, i know this because his first command was a frigate name the thanatos, that ship felt like home too" lysseilia said

"many give me the stink eye" misato said

"of course they do, your an outsider, and one who has spurned their captain, what would you do in their place, but i promise you that is temporary it won't last long, the commodore won't allow it, he expects his people to keep professionalism on his ship, what they do in their own quarters is there business, but they are expected to be courteous when in public or they will be kicked off his ship at the first station, and everyone under his command knows it" lysseilia said

"so if he claims you what happens" misato asked

"in relation to your situation or in general" lysseilia asked

"both" misato said

"in relation to your situation, next to nothing, it has taken me a year and half to convince him, and i have still not been claimed your people must want to serve him" lysseilia said

"and in general" misato asked

"that is between me and him, should he wish to share it with you after that fact, so be it, but knowing him as i do, i doubt it" lysseilia said

"is there a reason why he hasn't claimed you, i mean i don't see a down side for him" misato asked

"at first it was out of principle for which i blame you for him having" lysseilia said staring at misato

"what did i do" misato asked

"you forced him to pilot the evangelion" lysseilia said, her eyes widened
