two years they had spent two years apart, and fuyuhito did not change a bit, it was both relieving and utterly aggravating, relieving in that he was still the same charming commander she remembered, aggravating in that he still kept everyone at arms length, treating her just as his XO, in fact he didn't even treat her as his dragon anymore, since what she feared had come to pass he didn't need a dragon to be effective, he could very easily kill walkers on his own, and he could summon out unit-01 when in a pinch, and that will obliterate all competition besides a true bond

she had been welcomed into his quarters for dinner one night, as was a tradition they started when he first got command of the thanatos, so literally nothing had changed between them

"captain" she said

"not on duty, speak your mind lysseilia" i said

"fuyuhito, i've missed you" she said

"i've read the reports, you changed, yet you haven't" i said

"what do you mean" she asked confused

"reports indicate you became, colder, edgier, more easily enraged, yet since you came aboard my ship, you have shown none of that you are your usual professional self" i said

"i..... i started to rely on you, you were my rider, my anchor, when my mother had essentially and inadvertantly ordered you away, i broke down, i tried to find someone to replace you, no one ever felt right, no one felt like you" she said

"i see, my apologies, i did not mean for you to become so reliant on me" i said

"no, please don't apologize, it's not your fault it was never your fault, i just kinda latched onto you, your clueless persona interested me, then you changed into a calm, professional leader, then many would follow to the enemy homeworld, i fell in love with that, i became reliant on you because you were someone, many can rely on, depend on, you don't break under pressure ever, even in the most dire of situations, and i honestly fear the day where it gets to be too much for you" she said

"i see, then it seems i have done my job" i said

"extremely well, you are what all COs should be, what officers should inspire to be" she said, i paused as i took a drink of my whiskey

"my mother has ordered me home" she said

"i see, would you like an escort" i asked

"i'm not going, if she tries to push, i can report her for abuse of power" lysseilia said, i gave her a look

"that isn't a good idea major, angering an admiral is never good for ones carrier" i said

"look who's talking, and i thought you said we weren't on duty" she said

"habit" i said

"do you know your the only person, i've ever opened up to like this to" she asked

"i do now" i said

"what i am trying to say is, we have known each other for nearly four years, your lonely, you've gotten good at dealing with it in the two years since we've separated, but i can tell your lonely, please at least think about letting me in, think about how i feel about this, because i promise you i would happily give up the acceptance of the public if it meant i could find love and happiness with you" she said

"i will think about it, lysseilia" i acquiesced, she smiled

"you wouldn't regret it, i promise" she said, as she got up and left his quarters, leaving him to his thoughts, he cursed

"god damnit lysseilia" i cursed aloud

as the aforementioned girl was heading to her own quarters with a smile on her face believing she finally managed to succeed in her own personal mission of finally getting her chosen to finally accept her as his
