Hermits... as animals?

Over the last few weeks I've been deciding an animal for every single hermit... now I get to use it for something.

Yes the title is a reference to season 8.

It was Beef, Cleo, Iskall and Ren who were there first. Shark Iskall had made a pond for himself, grey-yellow finned arms over the edge. Tiger Cleo was looking equally intimidating with their claws and fangs, orange-furred arms crossed. Ren the Spaniel was pacing, keeping distance, as was llama Beef, who was exploring what strange llama noises he could create.

'Beef, can you stop doing that?' Cleo growled. 'It's annoying.'

'I'm making the most of it! It's actually kinda fun to be a...'

Beef cut off suddenly at a 'wooooooooo!' sound behind which turned out to be cheetah Jevin beating hyena Pearl in a race. Further behind, the noticeably scaly lizard Tango was trying to discuss the unexpected advantages of having a tail with sheep-moth Zedaph, too busy fluttering around on his new pink and yellow wings to listen.

'This is AMAZING!' he yelled. 'WOOOOOO!'

'You know, I could grow to enjoy this...' Jevin admitted. His blue slime skin was now covered in black cheetah spots, with yellow slime around his slime cheetah ears and probably his slime cheetah tail too. 'I can go so fast now!'

'Have you tried speed potions?' Zedaph asked, landing. Jevin's excitement grew.

'Man, that would be SO FUN!'

'Dudes... I now wish I'd been given more than curlier hair and different dog ears...' Ren sighed. 'This looks so exciting...'

'It's awesome, man. I can run incredibly fast... There was no way Pearl would've beaten me...'

'Hey! I'll bite ya if you say you're better than me again!' The hyena hybrid threatened, baring sharp teeth. Even her laugh was now a creepy hyena one. Ren stepped further away.
