                    Keefes POV

Okay maybe he shouldn't have placed a bunch of glitter bombs in the hallway, but he needed to blow off some steam. He had a really bad fight with Daddy Dearest so he deserved to do a little pranking. Besides what was the harm in a little glitter, besides that, you can't get rid of it no matter how hard you try.

And everything was going to plan, he had just placed the last one at the entrance of the hallway when she showed up. Normally he would've been overjoyed to see Foster, but he really didn't want glitter stuck in his hair. And she had a habit of tripping.

" No Foster," He yelled as she got closer to the trip wire, " No NO, DONT!" how could this have gone so wrong he thought, he ran his hand through his hair.

" Don't What?" She paused to ask, about a step from the trip wire that would trigger The Great Glitter Disaster.

" Just don't step any closer," Keefe said letting out the breath he had been holding.

" Keefe what did you do," she raised an eyebrow.

" Nothing," he said a little too quickly

" Really, then how abou-"

" What are you two doing out of class!" A stern-looking mentor yelled. But that wasn't why Keefe was worried. She happened to be rushing towards them about to trigger the trip wire. And he did try to warn her, but he was too late.

A boom could be heard throughout Foxfire, as glitter rained down on them.

A few seconds of stunned silence passed before the mentor spoke,
" Lunch detention both of you!" She yelled at them, before storming off, in her glitter-covered cape.

But lunch detention wasn't what he was worried about, he slowly turned and was met with beautiful honey-brown eyes, that made his heart flutter every time he saw them, he had to work on that, but this time there were no butterflies simply pure terror.

" I'm in trouble aren't I," Keefe said.

" What do you think," Foster said her adorable face covered in glitter. It seriously contrasted with the glare she was giving him.

                  . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

" I can't believe I got detention because of you," Foster said crossing her arms, which were still covered in glitter, much like the rest of her uniform.

" You willingly followed me down that hallway," He smirked as he said it. And he felt a smidge of embarrassment in her emotions, but then her emotions went from normal Foster emotions to that emotion he hated more than Mommy Dearest, pity.

"Keefe are you okay," Foster asked, her sweet brown eyes flecked with pity, or was that concern? He still couldn't tell the difference.

I'm fine Foster, I'm always fine, why would you even ask," He said, he could feel his anger and frustration trying to take over, but he wasn't angry at her, never her.

" Keefe, I can tell somethings wrong," She said her brows furrowing together. And he had to resist the urge to smooth the wrinkle. But he couldn't suppress the anger in his voice.

" Can we not talk about this Sophie," Her first name felt so strange to say, and he didn't mean to sound so angry. That question just set him off, he wasn't angry at Foster, he was angry at his mom for experimenting on him, His dad for a lot of things, and mad at himself for all the pain he'd caused Sophie, and the rest of their friends.

" Okay, I'm sorry," she said moving her chair away from him. He felt horrible, but before he could apologize the mentor watching lunch detention came in. He had unruly, white-blond hair, pointy ears, and Sapphire eyes surrounded by dark circles that could rival Sophie's. Luckily he didn't have a punishment for them and simply told them to do their homework.

But Keefe had a better idea, he took out a sketchbook, and some pencils and quickly went to work drawing the mentor. He would make the perfect drawing he and Sophie could laugh at together and forget they were ever mad. Well, that was the plan but the emotions around him made it hard to focus. Seriously were there more people than usual in detention?

Then he realized there was only one person in the world with emotions this strong, Sophie Elizabeth Foster.

" Foster, what are you so worried about," he said, but then a new wave of emotions hit him, probably surprise and something else he couldn't make out before a headache hit him.

" Oh Keefe, I'm so sorry maybe I should move to another seat," she said gathering her things.

Keefe reacted before he could think, he grabbed her wrist, "No, stay I'm fine Foster," He smiled, he didn't know why it just felt like she needed reassurance.

A couple of moments passed, and Keefe could feel the stares of their Detention buddies. Oh, there were definitely going to be rumors tomorrow.

Finally, she sat down, smiling at him. And suddenly he became aware that he was basically holding her hand. She must have realized too because she started blushing like crazy.

That blush and the emotions radiating off her gave him hope, hope that maybe there'd be a deeper meaning to Team Foster-Keefe. And maybe it was wrong to have a crush on your best friend's ex, maybe he shouldn't dream of a day where he could kiss her every day, Maybe he shouldn't be hopeful of that spark of emotion he felt, and maybe it was wrong to hold her hand, but he didn't regret it.

And he never would
