Synopsis

"Tale of a Thousand Stars" is a diary of a young woman who was the "owner of the heart" of the son of a former Deputy Army Commander, "Thian Sophasdisukul." It marks the beginning of a world forever changed, a world where a former life crumbles into ruins and an unexpected miracle bestows a new life. However, this new life in the old world lacks direction, and the identity once held dear is consumed by societal norms. Thian embarks on a journey to find the purpose of existence in this new world, guided by the life path of "her" and the final wishes in the "Tale of a Thousand Stars."

This opens the door to someone's heart, a novel filled with emotions, encompassing both love and longing, not arising abruptly but gradually seeping in to form an unconscious bond. When it's time to turn back, it's already too late to do so.

What I Think

I usually try to read the original book before or after watching its adaptation. I find you get more insight this way.

This one felt like a totally different story. Sure, the adaptation kept the main idea, but there were so many changes when it moved from book to screen. Not that these changes were bad – they actually fit the adaptation pretty well – but the original story is more detailed and complex.

I found the scenes at Pha Pun Dao way more interesting in the book than in the show. Thien's journey and learning in the book were more in-depth, especially his interactions with more children than just the five shown on screen, the fire, and the smugglers. Reading the book filled in some blanks I didn't even know I had.

I've got to admit, I'm not a fan of Thien's sister in the book (turns out the mom didn't just spoil Thien), and the mom seems too controlling for my taste.

As for the dad, he might be too overprotective, but at least he ends up being supportive.
