Synopsis

The "Manner of Death" is classified into five types: suicide, homicide, animal attacks, accidents, or natural causes. These are crucial for investigating criminal cases.

Dr. Bunnakit, a forensic pathologist at a provincial hospital, performs autopsies at crime scenes as part of his duties. After conducting an autopsy of a woman who was found hanged, his life changes drastically. And what Bunnakit needs to do is to listen to what the 'corpse' is trying to say.

What I Think

This was my second Sammon read, so I was already braced for her signature slow-burn romance. But what really got me was the focus on mystery rather than romance, a stark contrast to "Triage," her first book I read. This one delved into a much more serious case, drawing me in initially because of the TV adaptation.

While I loved "Triage," this book was slightly less impactful for me, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good – just different. What sets this book apart in the BL genre is its realistic character development. Sure, Tan falls hard for Bun, but it's Bun's realistic responses and depth that really elevate the story. It's not just another sappy love story; it's a well-crafted narrative with solid character development. And let me tell you, having Max and Tul in my mind as Bun and Tan made the whole experience even better.

The ending, focusing more on the romantic development, tied everything together beautifully, bringing the plot full circle. This book has definitely convinced me to keep reading Sammon's work.
