Daniella's Pov

I am happy that Natalia’s so happy, she went over to her father after cutting the cake. I and Penelope started cutting it properly so it could reach all the kids. Looking up to see what father and daughter were up to, Javier's spinning Natalia in her arms while she giggled.

I smiled on how happy they looked. Javier seemed to have stopped smiling with his gaze now shifted toward the main entrance. A frown evident on his face, it made me wonder what he could be frowning at. I followed his gaze through the crowd to see a woman standing at the main entrance door with a wrapped up shawl in her arms.

Who is this woman?

She looks oddly familiar from afar. Why does her presence seem to make Javier uneasy ?

“Penelope, who's that?” I asked, my gaze still fixated on her.

“Who’s what… Victoria?” Penelope gasped, and I looked at her in confusion.

“Who is Victoria?” I couldn't help but ask since it's clear that she knows that woman as well.

“That's… that's Javier's ex-wife, Natalia’s mother. Goodness me!” Penelope uttered, giving me a shock.

Wait, what?

Now I get why Javier's smile quickly turned into a frown.

So she is his ex-wife?

What's she doing here then?

Did she come here to see her daughter on her birthday? I'm curious.

“Why is she here?” Penelope asked, clearly she thought it out loud.

“Maybe she came to wish her daughter on her sixth birthday?” I answered Penelope's question even when I knew it wasn't directed to me in any way.

“She didn't show up for her birthday all those years and suddenly she decides to show up now? That's absurd, really.” Penelope said.

I looked at the woman who started making her way towards us in a steady, yet elegant walk. Taking in her view from where I stood, she's extremely beautiful and gracefully too like she's some model.

I sort of envied how flawless her skin looked and glowed. I couldn't help but wonder what really happened to she and Javier that was so bad she had to leave daughter behind.

She stopped few inches away from Javier who glared at her through the small crowd. I started to make my way toward him when I noticed the shawl in her arms.

Is that what I think it is?

“Hello Javier, it's been ages since we last stood in front of each other like this.” She said, a shrewd smile plastered on her face.

“What are you doing here, Victoria?” Javier asked, I could sense the resentment in his voice.

“It's no longer ‘Vicky’? Ouch.” She said dramatically before she chuckled.

I scoffed to myself. So he gave her a nickname and couldn't give me one? Why am I even thinking that? It's not like I wanted a nickname from him.

“My darling, won't you say hi to mama at least?” She said to Natalia who had stopped playing to see what was going. Victoria made to reach for Natalia, but Javier stepped in the way.

“Daniella, take Natalia to her room and stay with her, please.” He instructed me while his eyes were still fixed on Victoria on. Juan had began to notify the crowd the celebrations were over, he thanked and urged everyone to go home.
