Henry shifted beneath Nicole's legs, she was still fast asleep. She would let a few stray words slip out as she slept, Henry was too emotionally battered to smile. He sniffed and tried to blink back his tears. Definitely not a romantic novel he thought, closing the book in his hands and letting out a deep sigh. Nicole stirred. Henry held his breath, tensing for a moment, watching Nicole. He relaxed as she continued to sleep peacefully. He shook his head gently and wiped the tears away.

Henry glanced at the time, it was 3 am. He'd been reading through the night. His eyes started to feel heavy, he tapped Nicole's shin gently and whispered "let's go to the bedroom." Nicole nodded in a daze, letting Henry guide her. Henry pulled Nicole into his body, his heart felt heavy as he allowed sleep to wash over him.

Gia was the first one awake, she slipped out the bedroom leaving Chris fast asleep. She did make sure to stand at the door for a few extra seconds and admire him as he lay so peaceful. Gia drew the blinds, fixed the cushions on the couch, washed the dishes- standard routine. She hit shuffle on her playlist and was lost in her music as she swept the floors.

Henry stood leaning against the kitchen counters, blinking slowly as he watched Gia twirl in her mismatched socks and messy bun.
