Have A Glass

Red as blood and darker than my soul
My happiness streaming through the alcohol
Sharper than ice in the cold of the night
Words slicing through me for your delight

A fog settles down and rests on my mind
A cloud reaches down and touches my sight
As everything rushes by in a blurry haze
While nothing can quench this furious blaze

Red as wine and the essence of my soul
My life force streaming without alcohol
Hot on my skin but senseless within
Drained of me along with all that I'm in

Feet cold on the bathroom floor
Alone with the mirror staring on the wall
Water showering down my riddled skin
Colder than hate, hotter than rage

Red as blood and darker than my soul
My happiness streaming through the alcohol
My heart on my sleeve, hope thin as a veil
Regretting the ships that already did sail

Numb inside and blind to pain
When all is lost there's nothing to gain
Still trying to see if all is vain
When all is gone and ashes remain

Red as blood and darker than my soul
My happiness streaming through the alcohol
Empty promises swirling in my hand
Have a glass, then maybe you'd understand
