A Dark Nightmare

Miss M made her way through the wooded area, still camouflaged, and avoiding Ivy's vines as she shot past her.

"I can't see you, Martian, but perhaps I'll hear you scream." the pland-villain threatened. 

Vertigo stepped up to Ivy's side, suddenly. "And perhaps I can be of some assistance." he offered, Ivy stood a little more relaxed as Vertigo released the pulsing waves. Miss Martian's eyes went wide as she was hit with the first wave, causing her to turn off her camouflage then grip her head as the waves continued. 

It finally knocked her out of the air with scream. Kid bolted past Vertigo, knocking the Count off balance and ripping a bit of his cloak off in the process.

Ivy and Vertigo were both stunned by the turn of events as Vertigo turned to get back at Kid Flash, he saw Artemis already in the air, and her left leg extending moments before she hit him in the face with a solid roundhouse kick. Ivy didn't even have time to dodge Vertigo before he crashed into her and they both got knocked off their feet and into the mud a solid couple of feet away. 

Wally skidded to a stop and braced his back against a tree, his left hand still bracing his right elbow. Artemis took cover behind the same tree before taking the piece of Vertigo's cape from Wally's grasp.He grunted at the jostling of his arm. "Hey, that's my souvenir." he whined.

Artemis didn't seem to care and ignored his complaint. "Hold still." she told him as she finished tying the knot behind his head. 

The souvenir-now-sling held his arm close to his body. He looked at her with a bit of a stunned look as she took a small step back. 

She was suddenly hit by Wolf who was thrown at her.She yelped under the sudden impact of something that probably weighed more than she does."Artemis!" he yelled before seeing Ultra Humanite coming in with a cross aimed for his head.

Luckily Rogue flew in and punched the gun our of his hand before kicking him away. Wally took to chance and sped off.

Spider-Man flipped out of the way of one of Kraven's explosive arrows. Right when he regained his breath, Kraven slashed at him with his swong, creating a cut on Spider-Man's suit. Spider-Man groaned in pain before Kraven kicked him right in the chest and sending him flying into a large rock.

His senses went off and it was as if it was muscle memory. He didn't even need to think. He looked up and caught the sword Kraven was charging at him with, with his bare hands.

Kraven was shocked and paused before he tried pushing harder. Spider-Man dropped his one hand and began pushing the sword back with one hand. Kraven's eyes widened as the hero held him back with little effort. 

Suddenly, he snapped the sword in half with his one hand. Kraven stared at the sword angrily, "No, no... This is not..."

"Not what?" Spider-Man then kicked Kraven with so much force he crashed into a tree. Kraven felt the air knocked out of him with a pain that spread through his whole body. "This is what you wanted, right?? I true challenge?"

"Yes... I true challenge." He looked up at the sky, beginning to reminiscence, "You know... When I was a boy, my father had sent me and another man out to hunt our own wild hyena with the tools we were given. A knife, a bow and a sword. I did what I was required of me and I killed it where it stood. The first kill. And it was at that moment I saw that what I needed in this... pitiful life... Was a challenge. Someone worthy of my skills. When I returned to my father, I came with it's skin and the boy also came with his own. I thought I had someone that was my equal." Spider-Man walked up to him then crouched in front of him, "Thanfully my father knew better. He inspected the skin and found bullet wounds... He cheated. My father strangled him where he stood beside me. It was then I learnt something that guided me through life and would never break..." He finally looked at Spider-Man in the eyes as blood began running down his nose, "You cannot cheat at life. And anything I EARN and whatever my challenger might earn... should be earned fairly. Should be earned. You..." He let out a silent laugh, "...You cheated."
